New concept lure with pics

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

I had thought of the idea several weeks ago and was very very happy to see the ones made by storm because it made me think they'll work.

I just need the chance to get my balanced first.

Have you thought of making in-line spinners with a snap/swivel to attach various spoons/cranks?
Hey CCB

no I have not and that's probably due to me never having the opportunity to fish with an in-line spinner but you can bet your bottom dollar if i ever do and I catch fish on one I will definitly look at making some.

Thanks. I am not an expert and I don't want anyone to think I am either. One day I had a spinnerbait that was catching me a lot of great fish and I dropped it into the river. When I went back to buy another one I was told they would no longer sell that spinnerbait

So I started to make my own for that reason only. Sure I save money but not enough to make up for the time it takes me.

I reply to you for one reason. Painted blades, don't go there, no need to and a lot of hassle, but just my opinion. :!:

Another thing that might work is to run a 2 - 3 foot mono leader from the spinner to the lure. It could mimic a small predatory fish chasing after a small school of bait fish, or a baitfish that's not quite in the school. I know from high school biology that fish that are not quite in the school are targeted by predators.

very nice u can make ur painted lures look better with a scale pattern
paint bait blk 1st then spray white through diamond door screen with lure tight behind then thinly coat bait with color thinned out voila! scales good luck..

Where do I sign up to be a beta tester?! They look super neat.

Now, I'm a little biased. Some say I have a soft spot for spinnerbaits, don't know where they'd get that idea.

Great idea, I don't know the exact set up but I reallylike the sounds of it. In all of the animal world the weeker ones fall out from the herd, or in this case the school, and are the first to be targeted.

I'm a visual guy, got any pics? I would tend to eperiment with different lengths of leader from 1 inch to one foot and troll a spot over and over with the different lengths and see what happens.

Interesting how no one here, or none of my fishing buddies, has ever suggested these will never work or will never catch fish.

Wow I have just had a deja vu.

Thinking a little more about it Mr J, I would think the use of crankbaits with a strong or wide wobble may mess up the spinners. Swim baits and plastics would be perfect. Tight wobbling lures may work.

Another method that people use that is similar is using a small Lindy type jig spinner and attaching the bait(crankbait or other) where the jig style head would normally go.

SPOONS

I really think spoons are going to be the cat's meow but I am hoping to be able to make them work with all differnent types of crankbaits.

I need to test these Ahhhhhh I'm dying here.

Ok here goes.

You've gotta know I am not just sitting around doing nothing. Of course I made some more with different blade sizes.

So what?

Well, with this warm weather I have been thinking about pulling the kids plastic pool out from behind the shed but the kids will then want to play in it and I won't get to use it, so tonight the wife took the kids for a walk and I filled the bath tub.

Yes the bath tub. 8)

With only 6 -8 inches of water and about a 3 1/2 foot run I managed to prove to myself that most of these will run true and they looked great. I want to use size 70 spoons for pike at Westmeath and these spoons are just too big and too heavey to try in a samll bath tub but my cnakbaits all ran true, or appeared to begin to run true in the short distance. :D

They look great and even with this very small preliminary test I am very excited to try these for real. I even tried with a leader but ran out of tub too quickly to provide and type of conclusion.

These things are relatively inexpensive, easy to make, and very costomizable, now if only they catch fish.

Sounds Good Mr. J, if you were to get some more room we'd be able to try out my theory of running a leader.

I got the idea from pots and pans that my dad and I sometimes use while trolling a spoon/flatfish. (I'm not sure what they're actually called, but they're about a foot of wire like a leader or interconnected pieces of steel that have 5 or 6 spinner blades on them and you run them infront of a lure)

Hey buddy, I know we only met once very briefly at the dinner after Petrie ice fishing benefit but I think at Westmeath we need grab a pint and do some serious spinner discussions.

I'm going to bring up my whole kit, not sure at this exact moment how many parts I have left but the one thing about these lures is that if they do not work I will cut the wire and take back all of the parts to use again. The wire forms cost me, before taxes and shipping, $5.99 for 50, so they are really cheap.

I'd like to show you, and anyone else who is interested, how easy, how affordable, and how much fun it is to do stuff like this and it's a well known fact how much you like your spinners and it's really easy to start making your own and then once you catch a fish on your own lure, well who really cares about anything else at that point.

I wish I had enough parts to make one for everyone who is interested in trying them but I only buy in small quantities and usaully minimum buys too so it's going to be tough to share but I am sure others will get a chance to give some a try too.
