I just moved to the area, from southern ontario and down there the fishing isn't the greatest. So I'm hoping it is good up here. Another thing, hows the catfish in the ottawa, is it edible and are they there in good numbers in spring?
Thanx <><

Let me rephrase
When I said the fishing in southern ontario wasn't good I meant for Pike and Catfish, yes the fishing for smally's and largemouth is great, Walleye is good also and so is trout and salmon but I am a Pike and Catfish lover, so yes the fishing around Niagara Falls is pretty good!!!

Pike...
Luke...
Welcome to Fish Hawk...
If it's fishing you're interested in, this site is a powerful force...
You might want to give Muskrat Lake a try.
The pike fishing is pretty good as well as the bass fishing.
As far as Cats go, I'm not really into them, but I think I've herd of a few being caught in the Ottawa as well as the Bonnechere R.
Good Fishing!!!
And welcome again...
Remember, "Luke use the force!!!"
Sorry I had to say it!!!
Quack! Quack!

If you are looking for Catfish you have come to the right place. The Ottawa river is just plugged with them. On one of Bob Izzumis shows he was with the MNR when they were netting the O river are around Arnprior and over 80% of the fish they neeted were cats.
If you target Cats and know what you are doing you should have no problems baging double diggit numbers easily.
Any ways welcome abour and you have moved to a good area to fish.

Pike and Cats are definately a fun species to target. We get some real beauties down here.
I've fished both pike and catfish in the Ottawa area and had success for both. I've only been a few times, so I'm really not the right person to point you in the right direction. I do know you're located in a fantastic part of the province now and you're gonna love the fishing there.
Best of luck this season and welcome to FH.Net!

Welcome Luke,
As for pike, Pretty much anywhere wet within 30 minutes of you is littered with the 21-28" fish with bigger ones available if you know what you're doing. For cats and big pike the Ottawa river is the place to go. Congradulations, you moved right in the middle of some of the best fishing around, it's too bad you're not more of a bass guy though... but maybe you'll convert by mid July
