shirleys bay

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

I've been out there 3 times in the last 1.5 weeks. No bites the first two times (went between 4-8pm looking for walleye or ling). Sunday, perch were biting between 10-11:30am, then they shut down on me. I came back later in the afternoon and got 3 sauger within 15 minutes, and then nothing.

I don't have a hut and tried different spots each time, so that might have something to do with it.

Shirleys - The mystery

Post by Seaweed »

It is funny how Shirleys is like that.... boom action in the morning bite and then 4-4:30 boom action for a brief afternoon bite... and you might as well be knitting booties for the rest of the day.... I gave up on the joint... too bad too because you would think that the place would be much better than it is.

I was out there twice the past week just from 3-630 each night. Two 8" walleye (barely bigger than the minnows) one night in about 8' water... and went out further the next night about 10' of water and got 2 fat perch no wallies.

Does anyone know of a map of that area of the ottawa for depths and stuff. I've never fished it before and wondering if there's deep water/humps anything out there? I'm bliind out there!

Thanks
Graeme

Graembo,

You will have to walk a LONG way to find any depth of water....that area is a huge flat...ranging from 3 feet to about 12....and 12 is tough to find....
