We had just started our summer vacation around the third week in June and were trolling off a point at Lancaster's resort on lake Missagagon. My son suddenly hooks something that appears to be quite heavy. After taking about 5 minutes to get it in we notice that it's one of these Portfolios swith the binder attached and the name of the resort owner's son inside.

Turns out he had just completed his exam for this subject and threw the whole works off the point into the lake.

We showed him the next day and he was not too happy that we had found it.Either he hated the subject or the fact that we had found out that he had polluted the lake at his own resort.

Okay . . . I have a scary one and a funny one. If you are under 12, ask your parents if you can read this . . .

Early one morning, my mom and some friends were muskie fishing on Simcoe in a secluded part of Cooks Bay (very close to where she caught "the big one") when she snagged something quite heavy. Wanting to save "the lure that caught the big one", they got the boat directly over it and started pulling it up very gently. It was lose, not tied down at all, so she continued to pull gently. Everyone was joking and laughing about a limb being the only catch of the day when it came to the surface. As they watched, they realized it was a large black bag and not a limb at all. They all stopped and watched frozen in horror as they realized it was a body. Mom said it was the most chilling thing she's seen. They tied a marker to it and cut the line. Immediately they game back to the cottage and phoned the police. We all watched the rescue boat go out and get it from a distance chilled. She still has nightmares and is the only one of the group that still goes fishing.

Now for the funny one! Last winter, ice fishing on Simcoe, mom snagged the line of her friend. They were in the hut and she was outside with a couple friends, so she pulled it up and ran with it. After 5 minutes of her being a fish and screams of joy from within the hut, she threw it back into the hole and played dumb. We never told them.

 T.

To funny....
I onced hooked my sisters line form the other side of the boat..not sure how it happened . We were jiggin for walleye and I played her for had to be 5 minutes. It took me a bit to figure out I didn't have a fish but her line.....But when I did I thought i would have some fun with it!! This was one of her first times fishing..that was fun..LOL

Up 'Em,

That is too creepy about your Mom's experience. The stuff horror stories are made of. Did you ever hear / read any more about it on the news or in the paper? In a black bag, I imagine the body didn't get there by "accident".

I am one of the boring folks who never snagged anything more interesting than a log, tree, or someone else's snagged line!

I know my brother's girlfriend accidentally "caught" his chin with a Suick while casting. He had to go to the hospital with it dangling from his chin. YOWWWWWWW!

W.
Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.

My buddy was fishing a jitter bug one time and a Owl came down and picked up the jitter bug. Thank God one pull freed the lure and the Owl was never hooked. Bad hook set I guess.

Also have had numerous close encounters with those seagulls.

The funniest one with a seagull for me was I was scuba diving in Prescott and came up under one and grabbed its two legs, and pulled him under. Some friends who were sitting on the dock said that it was the loudest scream they ever heard.

but the best thing i caught while fishing was my favourite Rapala that I had lost 2 years earlier in the same spot at the Baskatong Reservoir, and the reason i knew it was the same one was that my rod and reel were still attached. And it seemed that i hooked right into one of the rings holding the rusted hook. So i guess it was meant to be my favourite Rapala after all.A couple of new hooks and it showed me how good it still was.with one of the best Baskatong weekend ever.

good one wallyboss. it reminded me of a Rapala story. Bass somehow undid the snap and took off with mine. A few minutes later, didn't he jump and spit it right back in the boat. I have a witness

I caught my brothers eyelid with a Mepp's spinner when I was really young - didnt get his eye though. Scary stuff.

I also caught a carp at #1 dam on the Trent, at about the same time that another guy (on top of the dam 75 yrds away) caught the same one.

Took probably 30 minutes before we figured ut what the heck was going on. I think he let me land it, and I unhooked both of us.

Must have been a hungry fish - both of us were fishing cornmeal balls.

Well if we're talking about catching wildlife let's just say untangling a swan from 3 lines was an intersting event to say the least
