I have to ask, though it seems obvious...are you another "lady" poster like Pink Lady, Snag, myself, Slushpuppy, Misses Livewell, Greymist, TLSea...and others? Markus, I beg to differ...it appears the WOMEN are "taking over"!

Welcome aboard ladyfish. There are more females than you think. Add Saskette and I to the list.
crazycrawler & Saskette! I knew I was leaving out a few other X chromosomes in our group ...my memory is not exactly what one would call sharp, if you get my drift! I believe there are even a couple more of us not mentioned, but you get my drift.
Lady fish: It IS nice to have a nice group of ladies on board, and to give the fellas their due, they are always (well almost!) well behaved. We have a good time here on Hawk Talk!

Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.
I'd like to pass along a warm welcome that I also received after moving up here recently. I was amazed at how engaging and willing to share info the group was on this site.
I'm a former IceShanty.com member (Sorry Markus, but that's all we had available down South) and I'd have to admit the knowledge and comradery shared on this site is the best.
My recommendations if you are just getting back into hardwater fishing is to beg, borrow, or appropriate, a good sharp auger and if you like panfishing load up a very small rod with four pound test and a very sensitive spring bobber. I like using waxworms and a lure called a Demon or plastic tails called Ratsotails on a 1/64th oz. jig. A good Flasher helps and a portable shanty is worth its weight in gold on those cold-windy days.

After 30 years in a male majority enviroment it will take a lot to surprise me But I am all for giving them their due.
Currently shorebound. Never know what will happen down the road.
Thanks for the info ratsotail will keep it in mind. Currently using the old hand-me-downs from my grandpa and hoping to update little by little
