When must you liscence your boat???

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

When must you liscence your boat???

Post by franklauzon »

Hey,

When must you liscence your boat???

It's a dumb question, that I think I know the answer to, but I want to confirm...

A buddy of mine bought a cheap 14' aluminum, and an Electric motor...

As far as I remember, in order to liscence the boat the motor has to be larger that 10hp, which is why everyone bought the 9.9's...

Am I correct? We're supposed to go play around petrie tomorrow, and don't wanna get in trouble...

Lemme know!

If you're talking about the Operator's license then yes you're fine. If you're talking about registering your boat then all water vessels must have the id #'s displayed on both sides of the vessel regardless of size. Anything under 4 meters and over 10 hp (ie. personal watercraft) requires the operators license. Just going by memory though, but yes you're fine for your vessel.
