Another opening day has come and gone and as always the day was full of good friends, good fish and good hats.

The bite was tougher than years past but if you kept at it you were eventually rewarded with some Larry gold.

A few bonus pike helped break up the morning including this decent slimer for my orange hat bro.

Some of the walters clearly had spawning on the agenda as they were dripping with eggs (note right hand in first pic) while we posed for a quick photo op before we sent them back over the bow.

The majority of our fish were caught in 20+ ft of water adjacent to spawning areas. Subtle vibration seemed to be the key to getting these negative fish to bite and a 3/8oz jig tipped with a twister or paddletail worked slowly along bottom was the ticket for us.


Can't wait to get back out! 8)

Looked like a great weekend to be on the river. Super looking walleyes :D Hope to make it out for a few hours this weekend :)

It's to bad we couldn't have stayed out longer with you guys but was a great morning pretty sure my walleye season is over until Decemeber thats if this winter comes back like last years!
Fishing the St.Lawrence 12 months a year!

No worries dude we ended up bailing after shorelunch anyways, had to get home for the Habs game! Always a blast fishin' with you boys and Wacky's purple pants were definetly the highlight of the day :lol:

Nice fish(s)!!! I was out on Tuesday but I got nothing... :(
I'm new to this forum and new to the St Lawrence. I have my own boat and would love to tag along with anyone wanting some company and willing to share a few spots?
I have an 18.5 walk thru with a 115 Merc and all the gear to go fishing, now I jest need to meet people who know the bodies of water...

The bite should be decent in Cardinal for the next week or two. Just head up river past the wreck and fish your way back past the plant until you find some fish. 1/2 to 1 oz jigs in the current and 3/8 will do in the calm eddies. Try twisters, paddletails, gulp minnows, gulp leaches, live minnows, mix up colours until you figure out what they want. Let the big girls go so we can enjoy this great fishery for years to come. Good luck!

I don't know if I can out this upcoming weekend, with it being Mother's Day and all...
I may take a day off and get down in mid week with my oldest son?

Great report Worms, thanks for sharing the details. We were out there monday after a real slow quinte opener. Did pretty good on brown bucktails in the same spot you were fishing and trolling fire tiger trolls to 20's past the plant. All our bigguns' went back although I saw a lot a big ones going into livewells :evil:

We''re there guys wading into that freezing cold fast current water in pic # 3 :? That seems like a very dangerous spot for wading?!
