New PB!

New PB!

Post by BigC »

I wish it was a muskie but sadly they don't seem to be in this stretch of the river so I have to settle for pike fishing in between fishing for bait with the kids.

Netman told me earlier in the day he's been fishing 5 times in his life, I caught a snot rocket and he was like wow at least we caught something "picture worthy" I was like umm that's not what were after. A few casts later this one slams my spinner bait and right away I'm like, oh this ones a better fish, it's probably picture worthy, you might want to grab that net... the moment he sees the fish, well I can't quite repeat what was said but needless to say he may just be hooked. Best part is he wants to go fishing all the time now and we're here until Friday.

Went back to the spot today before a little front moved thru. I caught a nice little smallie and just as it gets to the boat a pike slams it and takes it for a run under the boat. Luckily it didn't break off and just let go eventually. While examining the bite marks on the bass I realise we have no camera in the boat, not even a cell phone...

So I put on a big spinner with smallie colours and about twenty casts later a nice 37 inch pike nails it....I'm not 100% sure it was the same one I think it was a bigger fish that hit the smallie.

A couple more fish came before the end of the rain but after that it went pretty quiet.

Hopefully get that big one tonight!
