Ice fishing

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Can't wait, i will be purchasing a flasher this year and plan on doing a little searching for some ice crappie. I spend most of my ice fishing time on the larry, walleye, pike, and perch but I want to catch some CRAPPIE. If anyone is interested in taking me crappie fishing this winter feel free to PM me, if not just tell me what lake to catch them in     seriously

Unfortunately I'll be on my way home from Niagara Falls so I'll miss the Ice Fishing Evening :( looks like a good event.

For this winter I have a few trips to Quinte planned. I would like to give Muskrat Lake a try as I have never icefished the lake. Also have a weekend trip to Lake Temagami in February. A fews trips with the kids to Constance Lake or some other panfish spot.

I'm planning on fishing Quinte a couple times this year! As with Nips most of all my fishing takes place on the Larry but instead of crappie, I'm craving brook trout or some splake action! I had a steelhead on once on the Larry I'm sure thats what I saw 3 times come to the hole and then peel me off until it broke my 3lb line. That experience left me craving trout through the ice! I'm willing to drive to the North pole for some good back country trout fishing.
Nips there are lots of crappie on the Larry you should check some slack water bays or medium deep water marina's, and then try fishing them at night the only way I fish them! I always try to drill my holes in the day though!
I know you said your buying a flasher which I think your using for deeper walleye, but when searching for fish on the Larry I love my AquaVu I have no problem seeing down to 30ft of water on the Larry! And its a great way to learn what fish are really doing and who is hanging around and whats is down there.

Sounds cool - and not too far from my work. I will definitely try to make it.

im gonna be bugging "the old man" to take me to a few bow or splake lakes and possibly some small crappie lakes for first ice.
and if im lucky in persuading him into allowing me to buy myself a snowmobile, some nice lakes way out in the back country.

also, gonna try to learn how to properly use my showdown :P
its not the fisherman that catches the fish,, its the gear,,,

or is it the other way around? oh well...

I'll be following the walleye around Rockland and Wendover like I did last year.

Last year's season was phenomenal for me. I really turned the corner so to speak and put alot of the pieces of the puzzle together with my partner in crime Shane who unfortunately moved to BC. I don't think I got skunked a single time and usually got either a ton of smaller fish or a few really nice walleyes.

Also, I'd like to get better at using artificials on crappie. I'll try to learn from some FH expert at Crappie Bay come first ice if anyone will have me.

Tight lines,
Yannick
