Ottawa river...

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Ottawa river...

Post by Wrexxer »

Well me and a buddy (2nd time fishing) went out on the ottawa last week, I decided to give the river a chance after getting skunked last time...We dropped at the ferry launch and headed for the weed beds...after about 10 cast with the spinnerbait I throw on a white tube and at the first cast BAM! I catch this fish:

I didn't bring my scale but man it was the biggest bass I've caught with out a doubt...I hope the cheap cell phone picture does it justice!! It's not a straigh arm pose and I'm 6'3 and the fish makes me look small! lol...

Then after a couple pikes and smaller bass we headed to the launch for a quick change since it was pretty warm out...Then we headed down to the city for some rideau fall jigging and my buddy caught is first fish ever...and I was even suprise to see this in the boat:

Man was he ever happy!! He's hooked (no pun) for life now...

This was followed by another monster on the spinnerbait:

Yup you read correctly...SPINNERBAIT!! right in the tail...hehe...I hate seing the little guy hurt but he swam away pretty quickly! hehe...

Anwyways fun times and I thought I would share!

Looks like you guys had a pretty awesome time. Nice sized smallie there, and a good looking walleye too.

Nice job

Great report Wrexxer! I hope your buddy wasn't too tired holding up that fish, by the looks of his arms, he might have been straining?

LOL!

Just kidding... but Holy Lou Ferigno!!!! I feel so flabby and girly with my puny arms...

I hope he is hooked on fishing... great way to spend time out side!

I hope this is just the first of many reports to come! Include Arnold in them... so I can feel PUNY!!!

One other thing... I think that dam is about to blow behind you!!!!!!!

That is definitely a really hefty bass. Nice job with the classic tempting tube!

And who wouldn't want a walleye like that as their 1st fish...or any number thereafter?

I tried to think of something complimentary to say about the last fish, but even I came up empty on that one.

Yeah, there are closer launches but that one on the QC side is a very nice one...we fished by Rockland to start off but we thought we would head down for the ride!

At 50mph it went pretty well...We fished petrie on the way back...
