			Hey all,
I have a 15' grumman canoe and a trolling motor/deep cycle battery... Looking for a decent motor mount. I'd also be interested in perhaps making one -- but obviously don't want to lose the motor due to poor craftsmanship
Ideally it would be not very wide when looked at downwards b/c of a lack of space on the gunwales behind the back seat (see pic)
Suggestions?

i made mine out of 2X4, a block of hardwood, 6" lag bolts, washers and wing nuts.... super easy to build, took me about 30 min with a skill saw......

Yeah, i've considered this, but a 2x4 sitting widthwise will pretty well have me sitting on a ledge
A 2x2 might work widthwise but wouldn't be as strong...
How about my options with some kind of metal?

i don't really have the time to go into a detailed reply but a good strong mount is not tough to make
Here's some pics of mine
Some good wood and some angle iron for support and it is a compression fit on the gunwhales (sp?)

			Joco -
I started work on one today. I hit up home depot yesterday to pick up some materials and brainstorm and came up with something.
I just need to sand it down and seal it and i'm done. I'll take photos to wrap things up once it's fully complete.
You can add it to your photo list
