Big Carp and Cats

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Big Carp and Cats

Post by steve-d »

well, i know what i'm doing tomorrow! fishing for what i know how to catch!! :lol
i saw a huge Carp today in the harbour here, aparently it's always hanging around, at least 30lb!! (i see 5 pices of sweetcorn, hair rigged beckoning!)
also a few cats in the 5-10lb margine, i'm guessing a bunch of worms will do the trick there?

Well you never know, I have had good luck fishing cats with corn boiled in Kool-aid for 10 minutes, with lots of salt added. In fact, it outproduces worms on a regular basis. Might be worth the try

that sounds worth a try.
for carp that aren't hookshy plain sweetcorn produces, for those that are a little picky corn steeped in molasses or maple syrup are deadly! even dyed red with food colouring to change for a while.
white bread is also a killer for carp, but minnows rip it to shreds withing seconds! lol

Hi steve... take a look back at some of my st. lawrence posts on carp fishing.. you may have to go back a few pages now... I've had a 36lb and 34lb carp out this year and a stack of 20's. You're in a world class fishery when it comes to carp.

I'm originally from the uk and moved here over 6 years ago... best move i ever made and the fishing is awsome to say the least... there's some great guys on here too all to willing to share information...

Good luck... and enjoy your trip over here... it's a shame the weather has been so changeable lately
