Fishing with a stranger

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Fishing with a stranger

Post by Hoser »

On a whim I posted an offer to join me yesterday. Cracker took me up on it and we had a blast. Landed over 20 fish, walleye, pike, bass and a couple of mudpout. It never occured to me that some people on this forum do not have a boat and would jump at the chance. I made a new friend and would highly recommend other fishhawkers that have not tried it to do the same if the opportunity presents itself.

I agree 100%, I myself posted looking for a partner and in the process I met Slop who turned out to be a great person and a skilled fisherman (EXCEPT FOR HIS CHOICE IN LINE  ) for anyone that has a boat or not. Posting on Fish-Hawk for someone to go out with is highly recommended :!: :!: :!:

I couldn't agree more...I fished with Grumpy on Sunday at Mississippi Lake.

Met him via posting on fish-hawk.net

We met at the launch. Fished the lake hard. Wind was terrible (40Km plus?), but we manage to boat about 15 bass, biggest perch of my life (1 lb?) and about 6 pike.

I learned some new tactics/strategies. In the end, best day I've ever had on Mississippi. Finished the day with a beer at the lodge.

Highly recommend fishing with new people.

Strangers

Post by Jigs »

:)

Sure is one good way to make non strangers out of strangers.

I just have a 14ft aluminum and a 6hp Johnson, but would welcome anyone who is willing to accept the hardship

Mostly just fish around the Falls but am planning some trips around the Kemptville area on down, and will post when going if anyone is interested. (I PROMISE NOT TO TALK POLITICS)

No booze or drugs on board and we're good to go. 8)

Regards: Jigs.

I think this is great.

I don't have access to a boat and would love to be able to go out. At the same time I like to fish rivers in my canoe and don't know many rivers or many people who know of rivers but don't have acess to a canoe etc etc etc.

I think something may have gotten started here.

I can't commit to a date right now but I offer the canoe to someone who can show me the river. I'm a Dad with 2 kids so it's tough for me to offer up a commitment today but I am good for my word.

Canoe is Coleman 16 foot
Comes with trolling motor and can cover a lot of area very quickly
Weight is too much for portaging but I do have a set of wheels to help transport it over not too rough terrain, but the wheels need to e put back into the car as they take up too much room in the canoe.

I live in Barrhaven and don't mind travelling too far so that the wife doesn't get too pee pee for being gone all day. I do have some Friday's off if fishing during the week is good and I am not playing golf.

I am boatless and have relied on the generous offers of many people on this site to get off shore. As everyone knows this site is great for it's people. I meet my tournament partner for this year on this site, the soon to be former M T Livewell!! I've also travelled to fish with Markus and jammer, and have fished with a bunch of local guys.

Actually I am meeting up with fishmaster to fish Clayton Lake on Wednesday, and in a couple weeks I am fishing for about 6 days on Lake Erie with kamala.

Man I love this site!!!!!!! Hopefully next year I'll be able to return the offer and take people out in my boat.

Thanks again, Hoser! I really had a great time. You and BTS have given me tons of practice on the net, so if anyone needs a good netman.... 8)

It was truly awesome to get out with someone who not only has a boat, but had years of experience on White Lake. He put us right into some bass and pike. I had a lead on him.... at one point I was up by 5 fish, but he not only caught up (thanks to a couple of real nice wallies), but ended up surpassing me by 4. :(

Some day, when I own a boat, I will remember the big hearts on this board and I promise to return the favour.

Items of note:

Mudpout doubleheader
A bass not only spat out Hoser's bait, it almost hit him in the head!

I am also in the same group of avid fishers without a boat. I would love to get the chance to go out even once or twice a year with someone who had a boat, regardless of what we were fising for. I am a relative newbie to this board, so as an inexperienced fisherperson I dont post a lot because I mostly ask questions not answer them. But on this topic i was compelled.

The one thing I can say though is that the comraderie on this board seems to be exceptional. I have posted on other boards but this group of people is super friendly and always willing to help each other out. Giving advice and answering questions is one thing, but to invite people you have never met with you on your boat sight unseen is awesome. One day if and when have a boat, I hope to return the favor one day to someone like me.

Looks like I will have Tuesday and Thursday nights available for a couple of months starting August. Not quite sure of the dates yet, but if anyone wants to join me on White Lake, let me know.
