BLACK FLIES NEAR CHAPLEAU

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Black flies were out last week, but this past weekends wind and snow made them more tolerable, but looking at long range forcast, I would highly recomend either a Themocel and or spending 15 bucks on a bug jacket.

We were regulars at Moose Horn for years, try Racine Lake for walleye. Doug the lodge owner is a former MNR employee, its worth paying him what ever he wants for guiding you down the Montreal River. BTW the bugs were BRUTAL every time we went.

I've fished Racine Lake in the summer. Walleye wont bite during the day but up until 8am the fishing was unbelievable. Before going out we were warn to stay off the islands unless we had pepper spray, lol. So make sure you hit the rest room before you go out. and yes, the black flies were horrendous.
