Went to a course out of the Loblaws on vanier tonight, 34/36, temp card in hand.
Reading the book is one thing, but sometimes an instructor can make things that much more clear.

Hey all,
Well after many years of gearing up for everyone to have their Operator's card...the time is now come and past.
If you have not yet written your test, don't wait any longer! The process is relatively simple, and if you've been boating for a while, the test itself should be pretty easy to pass. There are a lot of common sense questions that I have seen, but of course you still need to familiarize yourself with buoys, rules of the road (water), what to do in certain boating conditions, and of course the Law!
Get your card through Fish-Hawk and I'll send you a discount code good for $10 off the cost. Just PM for the code.
Cheers and good luck,

For non-residents:
Q. What if I don’t live in Canada, but boat there?
A. Non-residents only need to obtain a Pleasure Craft Operator Card if they are operating their powered boat in Canadian waters for more than 45 consecutive days or if the boat they are operating is registered or licensed in Canada (this includes rented boats). Boater Education Cards or equivalent certifications are recognized in Canada. Proper identification should be kept on board at all times to provide proof of residency.

Card
Interesting to see the Outdoor Fishing and Hunting Cards have an expiration date. for which I suppose you have to pay another tax to renew it when it expires. Does your boaters card expire the same way or is it a one time event in Canada?
How is the money supoosed to be used? For sportsman benefit or general fund?

Boater Card
Thx Pints. Good to know as we will be up to Picton this month and relive you of some of your Eyes.

This information is not completely correct.Pints wrote:For non-residents:

For a rental boat no one requires a Pleasure Craft Operator Card. Proof of competency can be in the form of a completed rental boat safety checklist. This is a form filled out dockside by the rental agent & signed by the renter.
As for the 45 day exemption for non-residents this only applies if they are operating their own boat. It doesn't apply to a relatives or friends boat.
