Post by Fishing 24/7 »

I seriously looking into buying a new 14 ' alum. boat.

mine is a leaker. seems like everytime i fix 10 rivets.

the next trip ten more are leaking. :x

So its time to go out with the old and In with the NEW!

Looking for a Simple boat and trailer i have the engin.

i want the boat to have a live well. and a flat bottom.

What would be my best options...

do any of you know the price range of these boats?

i never bought a new boat. so im new to all the terms....

HELP!!!

Hi 24/7. Not sure how much I can offer here except to let you know about my first boat, a 14' 6" Resorter from Princecraft. They have a basic model and a DLX model which has a floor. The DLX model didn't exist when I bought mine and I ended up putting a floor in myself (a floor that is still in use 17 years later.) The Resorter has a wider beam than most 14' tinnys and is great for when the winds kick up and the water gets rough. It was a great boat for bassin' and trolling for muskie. I'm not sure what size motor you have but I wouldn't put anything less than a 20HP on a Resorter. After I finished adding the floor, added 2 batteries, 2 people and a beagle, it wasn't long before I upgraded to a 30HP.

HTH,
Doug

Hello,

When you say flat bottom do you mean the inside floor or the outside hull.
http://www.fishingworld.com/g3boats/JonBoats/#overhead

Above link is to G3 jon boats (flat bottom outside hull and inside floor).

Good luck on the boat hunt,

Tim

12ft Tracker (Fisher) boats at Costco for $700.

They also had 14ft Aluminums there for $1500

They were Tracker boats also I believe.

Have you tried UsedOttawa? or Kijijii?

Here is one on usedottawa. It has a motor though. Gives you an idea though.

I have a '96 14 foot MISTY RIVER Utility boat. It is solid. It can hold 5 people and is rated for, I think 35 hp. I picked that up on usedottawa a couple of years ago. It came with an upgraded trailer and a 20hp Yamaha.
I got it for 3400 dollars! So keep checking that site, because you never know when a good deal can come up.

Lund is the way to go, i had one and sold it when i got a bigger boat.
I regret not have kept it they are the best to go anywhere. I like my new boat but a 14 aluminium is always good to have.
I will get another when i have room for storage and it will be a lund. A little more $ but well worth it

Lund,

I talked to a guy who worked at a lodge on Reservoir gouin and he said at the end of the year the princecrafts were all banged up and missing rivits and the lunds were like new.

The smaller princecraft don't have a steep deadrise and they bounce around alot because they are so light.

my opinion, good luck shopping.

The reason they were missing rivets is because they were all banged up...

Get one with a welded hull and you will never have to worry about rivets.

If the floors not flat inside, a little plywood will fix that.
