New law for the Ottawa (apparantley)

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Bacon, again, you're going off 'half cooked'.

McQ, in other-words you could be arrested for 'smiling' with intent to laugh or 'walking' with intent to run :?:

I would've thought the PQ would've accepted conservation-minded anglers with open arms.

PUHLEEZE!!!!!!!!

Slop.I am not sure how to take that....I'd like to think your kidding because I don't go off half cooked as you put it so for you to say I have and then say I have again...what are you talking about?
Simply put I am just hoping for non confrontational conversation on the board. Sure there is alot people won't agree on but political debates can get heated and I would hate for that to happen!
So the way it is written ...to me anyway is that I have a tendancy to go off on people on the board I certainly don't think I have ever done that!!!
Nor would I!

Everyone can cool their jets on this thread. I am not going to delete comments in this thread just yet because I want people to have a chance to see what I am talking about.

When you slam a province in the way that I have seen here in this particular thread, you slam the people that live in it. You insult them and give them reason not to participate in Hawk Talk. I am not sure whether some of you realize that.

And you insult everyone in this Angling Community who do not wish to be associated with thoughtless irresponsible comments that target groups of people in a bad light. I am personally offended by anyone who uses this Community to target groups in the way we have seen. That is not meant to be some sort of cliché type statement. I am truly offended.

One of the objectives of Hawk Talk is to generate thought-provoking dialogue. All of the points I have seen in this thread that I don't like could have been made without alienating certain groups of people. Comments like the ones on this thread are definitely a part of the problem as opposed to a part of the solution.

I want to make one thing perfectly clear...anglers from ANYWHERE are more welcome on Hawk Talk than anglers from Ontario who demonstrate a propensity for irresponsible thoughtless flaming.

Use your heads and your comments will command a lot more respect from those who read them.

Hello Guys

It was me that has spoken to Ed on the weekend.Everything that Ed said is true.My Dad and I were fishing on the Quebec side when the Quebec MNR came over.To be honest i was crap in my short. They ask for fishing licences.I was okay but my Dad wasn't. I had two pike in the livewell to make sure my livewells were working good. The MNR saw the pikes and said nice looking fishs. They told law just got change sometime in Feb.I'll be doing the CFT on the Ottawa and I ask them do I need a Quebec fishing Licences, They say no. They even told me that i can fish from shore on the Quebec side and fish in the Ottawa River and kept the fish if I want too. The only time you need a Quebec Licences is if you pass the highway 50 or go under any bridges. They even told me to meet them at their office to give me the up-to date info. You still don't believe me I'll give my phone #. Send me mail

P.S I need the CRIMES Stopper Phone Number!!!! I found a huge net in the water, It had 1 big Beaver 2 Pikes 1 Bass, and lots of crappies.

Big Bass Boy, not being in on your session with the enforcement folks from Quebec it's hard to have a full perspective of just what took place but here's a bit of information for all interested parties.

These boundary questions are always a sore point for many but each Province sets its own rules. It has been my experience over the years that the reciprocal arrangements do work.

The territoial boundry for establishing an Ontario licensee's rights is HWY 148 in zone 25. Quebec does issue a conservation license with a 0 (zero) possession limit. In Ontario you have the rights to keep 2 (two) Pike subject to size ( read your regulations ) to be sure. If you are trusting in a CO's interpretation then there could be a grey area.

I have searched through all the published material seeking a clarification without success so later today I will call FAPAQ the responsible department for a complete answer. I will post the findings.

I am not aware of any pending changes and this whole deal is news to me as well.

jazman the Lochaber situation is and has been discussed to death. The waters of Lochaber are covered by a lease arrangement and enforced for the benefit of the club that holds that lease. Fishing is restricted during the fall waterfall season, why anybody would want to fish in the middle of a firing range escapes my imagination anyway.

I work in Quebec, but live in Ontario. So I have pleasure of sharing many political opinions (of which mine are always right 8) ).

I have an Ontario sport fishing license. I rarely fish in Quebec (it's all trout and walleye anyway :P ), but when I do, I make a point of having, at minimum, a temporary Quebec fishing license for the time I spend there.

At my ripe young age, I have discovered that peace of mind comes cheap at $50 for a non-resident license and is worth every penny.

I have no opinions of the rights or wrongs or of boundry limits. I just like to know I've got my bases covered.

Did not want to resurrect the beast of Lochaber, just the first spot on that side of the river, which I love to fish, that came to mind.
