WFN Channel

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

WFN Channel

Post by adempsey »

Well,

I decided to pick up the WFN channel a couple of weeks ago. So far, I have mixed feelings.

I don't really watch much television, but I don't mind watching a fishing show on occasion. As can be expected, I really like some of the shows and some I can live without (Mariko Izumi for one, she's beautiful but annoying and doesn't belong on the fishing channel - the Food Network is that way --->).

I am also fairly disappointed that they actually have a Movie Night. If I wanted movies I would have gotten a movie channel. So, Friday night and part of Saturday when I actually have the time to watch a show, I get a movie instead.

Anyway, I suppose my rant is quite useless and I apologize for that, but what I really wanted to know is if the shows on Wild TV are better??

Thanks!

Wild tv is mostly hunting, and shooting shows, but there are some good fishing shows but the same shows are on WFN for the most part I think.
I see where your coming from, but there are certain times that are better then others But I can handel a good fishing movie once a week and Mariko just needs to do more fishing, and perferably in hot destinations 8) I just can't stand that Charlie Moore! and I'm not really into the salt water shows either although I bet it would be fun....I still think Bob has one of the best shows going but The Next bite is pretty awsome too.

I prefer Wild TV over WFN. It is a mix of both hunting and fishing - probably a 60-40 or maybe a 70-30 split of hunting to fishing.

Wait until you catch an episode of the British Carp fishing championships on WFN. It's like watching paint dry or grass grow WHILE getting a root canal at the same time. Guaranteed to stop all complaining about Mariko.

You can also get WFN for free if you have a C-Band satellite set up. Point it at Galaxy 17 at 91.0°W on TP 21 @ 4115 H.

It is clear and open for free... Legally!

WFN

Post by bassman »

It's time to drop this channel, I've been a fish junkie for decades now and in the 80's and 90's there better shows on T.V. than there are now, just about all the shows WFN has have been aired years ago, and now they add movie night, is there anyone out there who hasn't seen these movies their airing now.
Waste of time infomercials, and fishing shows that aren't fishing shows.

HOW CAN YOU SAY THE INFOMERCIALS ARE A WASTE!

Sham-wow - you'll be saying "shamwow"
Seam Repair Glue - fixes anything your big but can split!
Super Sticky Repair goop - He pulled an 18wheller with that stuff!
Car scratch Repair Kit - Fix that junker for cold hard cash!
HD Vision Glasses - Revolutionize your vision!
Super Heating Cooking thing - Cooks a full Turkey in no time!
Super Juicer - From steak to mushrooms to basketballs, you'll love making juice!

The list goes on and on!!! 8) 8)

Hate to say it but what do you expect???

Fishing shows are there for 2 things.

1) To show you actual fishing
2) To sell products....

These Professional guys like to fish and are damn good at it too! But in order to get paid and have money to pay for boats, trips, trucks etc they have to plug products....otherwise the sponsors wouldn't be interested nor would they sponsor.

It isn't cheap sending these folk all over the world to catch fish so that us guys can sit there drooling. They have to pay for this somehow and at the same time pocket a living. They do this buy having infomercials etc. The advertisers pay big bucks to be on that channel, in turn the network uses that cash to buy the programming and to fund new programs....

Just part of it....

Wild TV does the same thing with gear and guns.
