Wow...be careful out there...
My thoughts as well. I had a big reply typed out early in the day but then deleted it. My comment wasn't as nice as yours.jazman wrote:I apologize for not posting much anymore and jumping in here but a site mod calling a local angler for a darwin award when his or her fate is unknown?
Brutal
I really hope the guys are both ok. My mind raced through a dozen names of guys I know this could be...... scary stuff for sure.

Having experienced losing my father in a boating accident in cold weather several years ago, I know what the family is going through right now and my deepest condolences and prayers go to the family, and hope they take some comfort in knowing that at least he was doing what he loved….I really hope they find him soon.
As for Todd’s comments I have never once got involved in any politics or some of the other trash that can go on this forum, I usually dismiss such things as someone just being low class or maybe just a kid that doesn’t know any better …but these comments coming from a fish hawk moderator is deeply offensive to me and does not say much of his character….disgusting

I know the comments that Todd made are completely out of line. And he is the one that will have the apology to make, but as we all get our boats ready for the season we need to learn from this very sad incident. The air may be warm but the water is cold, its no different than falling in the water in December. It's real easy to forget too, I just started me boat this evening and was planning on going for a run over the the weekend and wearing my survival suit never even crossed my mind. I would never even dream of going out in the fall with out it.

I tend to agree with the masses... kinda a numbheaded thing to say, especially for a mod.
But then again, being a mod here is just a thankless, powerless, tattletale job for anyone who has the time to help out.
I'm getting off topic here. Todd, I'd hope you'd back track on that remark if it turns out to be a member of FishHawk, yeah?

Sad story! Knowing the water you travel and the danger of different seasons on that body of water can go a long way. I think Todd being familar with this body of water, found it hard to believe somone would chance a trip in a small boat on this section of water with current conditions. I'm sure Todd feels for the family as do we all.
Were they on a body of water where the elements suddenly turned against them? They should have known what the worse scenario could've been.
Folks, these were not 14 year olds walking along the bank and suddenly one of them accidently slipping in and being washed away. That, would've been a real tragedy. These were 2 adults who made a calculated decision and in the end, paid dearly.
I call it natural selection.........Todd called it the way it is and gets raked over the coals over it????? Mod or not, he's intitled to his opinion, just like me.........

OH my god!
I saw a boat today when I was fishing the Rideau at the long island locks.
It came out from the outflow of the jock and went down the rideau towards ottawa
:S
I hope this wasn't the boat of the dead guys .....
But really who esle would be boating right now? when the water is so low and moving extremely fast...
hmm
Thats really too bad, he would've been toast very quickly, I saw the current today itwas terrible.
I'll post some pics in my report of the current about 1km up stream from the outflow of the jock where the rideau connect to it

Too bad... I'm sure these two were just out for some laughs and were not thinking... no one should have to pay a stupid tax that high... and more importantly, as stupid as these guys were, their family and friends will suffer more...
It's really just too bad that life doesn't come with at least one mulligan.

"On a side note, the reporter that wrote the story should have review their notes, given that the Jock River is no where near Woodruffe and Fallowfield. The only body of water remotely close to that intersection is Black Creek, which at the moment isn't much wider than a tinny" (quote from Todd)
I know at the very end of woodroffe on the otherside of p.o.w (old16?) is where the jock enters the rideau. Fished it many times.
