Fav Pike Lure
This spring I was guiding in Northern Ontario and really had a great opportunity to really narrow down spring pike baits. I took notes, recorded times, weather, sizes, depths, lures etc. As well as topwaters and spinnerbaits do work in the spring, hands down the best baits were big spoons. Particularly the 5 of diamonds. Bucktails also worked well but I would not hesitate to only throw the 5 of diamonds everyday for weeks at a time.

O'Course, I cannot tie one of those... but i'm going after some pike this year, now I have a reason to try... Think my 5wt will hold up?

I've never used the spinner for anything other than pike... I do not target musky, but i'm fairly sure it would work at times... The in-line is big, covers the palm of your hand kind of big... say 6" from tip to trailing hook... Creates loads of vibrations and flash.. (duh, it's a spinner) and that's where I get my confidence from...
The SEX DUNGEON fly is something I found this winter online.. (don't even ask what I was searching for...) I want to tie some in small ish sizes, say 1"-2" overall length... I also think that the beads can be used as noise-makers if done right... so when you strip it it slides under water a bit, makes topwater disturbance and clacks along...
I have not done any looking into how to connect two hooks, is there a special knot, etc... but the fly itself doesn't look overly hard to tie.. (so i'll spend 2 days messing it up before I get a crappy "it'll fish" version)..
I think that it would do a fantastic job of representing many baitfish/minnos... and could represent a nice slider-style muddler...
Tied LARGE, say 5-6inches, in red and whites with some yellows and/or blacks thrown in, it should be a killer sub-surface pike fly...

You forgot a season there Mon Chum...............'' Winter '' = Big Golden Shiners
I know first hand it can get real expensive using these , ie like this winter it cost us a fortune using those Monster Golden Shiners , Probably a couple of hundred dollars each............

At a dollar each it doesn't take long to add up

The "Sex Dungeon" that Hookup posted is actually a trout fly (for BIG trout).
You can find the pattern, along with a bunch of other trigger flies (which would also work for bass/pike at:
