For your sportsmen" buddies apparently they are ALL keepers
Tell them to keep some smaller 1-2 yr old fish for the pan. Not that.
Real yummy, 10 lb 8 years old+ hen walleye.!
No offense to you,you simply posted their pic, but you oughta educate your friends nicely that they can bring a cam in the boat, a fresh healthy live release pic or 2 looks way better than a discolored dead "ego pic".on a weigh scale.
That female would probably have put 25, 000 + prime eggs on the spawning beds in late April
Now NOTHING.
Again, not trying to offend you, it's just that is the type of catch and kill mentality that has caused the decline in walleye class years

Nice fish! Congrats.
I personally would not have kept the fish...but what does it really matter? People kill and eat all kinds of double digit Walleye from a multitude of waterways throughout the province.
I've heard rumours about a place called Quinte as well....
My point is....it's your fish...do whatever you want with it!

Ok... Before everyone gets to excite about the pictures and what was done with the fish and the impacts ont he fisheries.. One of the two is my legally blind brother and he is about to have it mounted.
Now you can say what you want about should have let go, they need to learn not to keep them and even maybe they should go for the smallies..
Typical bashing before you know all the facts. Sure I could have said he was blind from the get go.. but before you comment think about this. You enjoy the challenge.. the going fishing anytime you please... the keep or let go when you want.. This guy is lucky to get in a boat not knowing if he will ever make it back to shore....
SO... bash me for posting kick them for keeping but it's gonna look good on his wall... and most likley he will talk to people about it more than you would if it was in your net and set free...
By the way it was a male...

Oh one more thing.... this could very well be my last report if this is the kind of reception it gets....
The picture and my original note is removed from this report... This should help control some of the emotions from those of you that are so into jumping to conclusions without knowing all the facts. It would be better to ask before you comment..

For certain my post was not meant to bash anybody. Congrats to the angler and it will look good on his wall, a trophy for sure from any inland water. I have people close to me that would also not hesitate at hanging that fish. It is what it is........
Everybody has the right to harvest whatever fish they wish as long they obey the regs.
Everybody also has the responsibility in doing their part to manage our fisheries, and to practice selective harvest, for whatever species they are fishing, be it perch, crappies, walleye's ect... They all have their place and do their part.
In my opinion, again my opinion, the decline in walleye fishing in many water's ways can be directly attributed to the fact that we constantly see or hear about kept limits, and big spawners being taken. Every time I hear of a big walleye from the Mad or the O, it is also a dead one.
Another little note..... a study conducted by the MNR on the Ottawa about 15 years ago. They tagged and aged some fish, a few of which were 7+ pounds....all female........ and all aged at over 20 years.
