SALMON RUN IS ON!!!!!

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

It's not a "crap" comment. I personally think salmon should be left alone when their migratory/reproductive instincts force them into a valnurable state. If this thread was about catching spawning bass, I'm willing to bet there would be a lot more "crap" comments.

:D They don't stock many bass..but millions of salmon every year raised by mostly sportsman clubs so they can catch them. No different than a stocked trout pond..its just a whole lot bigger and a little tricky to get them. Now if they were ocean run sockeyes on the decline I could see the point of letting them swim by.

But Lake Superior State University prides itself on its stocking program and they promote sport fishing for salmon....

And also the fish hatcheries in the area (2 in the soo alone) also stock salmon in the rivers

The salmon fishery on the Great Lakes is a big money maker for cities etc and it is a govt funded program on both sides of the border for that reason


Had I known this would hurt feelings :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: I would not have posted it BUT
Salmon are in season and there for the taking :D

I would like to argue that catching them is not so easy!
That fish spooled me for over 300yrds, so there is plenty of fight and finess to fishing them!

So I will continue to catch salmon and enjoy the fight and taste of a freshly BBQ'd fillet :D

Taylor, Im going to end this one here. The reason I posted, wsa because the guy posted after getting his first salmon of the season. He was excited. I didnt think there was any reason to rain on his parade with a comment such as yours that could be taken as a rip for no reason. Different strokes for different folks and its there choice. I also quite enjoy both lake and river fishing for salmon and trout, all over Lake O.
my apologies if I over reacted and posted before thinking, but for a simple post like this one started, Ma always said " if you dont have anything nice to say, then maybe its best not to say it"
I enjoy this forum better then others because people dont get slammed for there post alot. Taylor, if you want to chat further about this, send me a PM.
