What's the oddest thing you've ever caught through the ice?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Another guy with one of those nice hats 8) ....RJ, I wonder if that's the same lake we went to last year with Rich (aka uver) and the boys....My son-in-law got an 8lb'r and I got one just under 10....

We're goin back up Jan. 25 - 27 and I can hardly wait....Uver doesn't seem to be that interested in "LING LAKE"....hopefully this year we'll bag some Laker's, Eyes, and Whitefish to as i think we'll have more than the 5" of ice we were on last year.

No picture of this but last year while fishing for splake my buddy had a great fight with an 8ft long and 9" girth birch tree...He thought he had a good splake on cause every time he would stop to pull up again the line would zip off like it was taking line when really he was pulling roots and all up. About 5 minutes later he gets this branch out of the hole, then the body of the tree, then the roots kinda got stuck in the hole and snapped at that point. Oh he still can not live that one down. Myself last year caught me first ling and was it ever interesting to catch. Was not sure how to hold the slimey thing. Got it off the line and kicked it back down the hole.

Pretty cool guys! You never know what topic will peak the interest on this board! I'll add a carp and a bullhead to the list in my icefishing adventures.

So far the list looks like this:

Crayfish, Carp & Bullhead
5 Walleye on a stringer
Gobies
Sturgeon--I love the Sturgeon pics guys...what a cool fish...love to catch one!
Mudpuppies
Mudpouts (same thing as mudpuppies??)
Ling Cod
A shack door...too funny RJ!
An OOS shirt...was that mine Slop?
Birch trees

As for the list of things lost down the hole I would add a rod or two and a lot of "almosts"!

Fun stuff guys! Does anyone have a sore back from all the shoveling in Ottawa yet?
