What do you do for a living????

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Let's see, where to start?

Nurse, educator, child psychologist, guidance counselor, negotiator, Crayola artist, warden, chauffeur, cook, maid....
Hours, 24/7. Volunteer work.

In other words: MOM.

Prior to this exhausting, but very fulfilling job, I was a Nephrology Section (kidneys!) Renal Clinic coordinator at our area's biggest hospital. Being that pee is such a huge part of raising babies, I was already quite experienced on all urinary related topics from my stint at the hospital.

I'm self-employed in the "home renovations" game.  (Enter shameless plug here)

I'm basically a "Jack of all trades, Master of none", but I really enjoy being creative & I'm good with my hands. I've tried both the "Office" environment (Revenue Canada) :(  and the "Factory/Industry" environment (RCA Inc., Alcatel Inc., Dupont Canada Inc., etc., etc.) :?  but found I wasn't cut out for either of those types of career.

There's nothing like being your own boss 8) 8) , and if someone rubs you the wrong way you just pack up yer tools & "Frapper la Chemin!!!!!!!"

Very interesting thread!! Cyber Out!! 8) 8)

Territory Manager for a bicycle company. I'm on the road quite a bit and get to see a lot of La Belle Province.
Something interesting that I discovered recently. All roads lead to Ed's. :D

Retired Banker/Real Estate Appraiser. Grew up as a river rat on Lake Erie/Lower Detroit River and joined BMO in Amherstburg after high school. Spent 38 years with them - back and forth across Ontario several times (in and out of Ottawa 3 times). Retired from BMO 11 years ago, started my own business in real estate appraising ( I spent the last half of my career with BMO as a Mortgage specialist, so it was a good fit) and wound it up after 8 years. Constant career transfers made it difficult to maintain my river rat ways ( I did carry a 9.9 hp motor around in the trunk of my car for years) and I eventually took up skiing & golf. Met my wife at top of Mount Ste. Marie, and we have spent most of our lives with these two hobbies.

As I approached retirement age, I realized my body was not going to allow me to play golf every day and our skiing activities were also declining, so I decided to return to the dreams of my youth, and become a water rat again - only this time I would have the boat/fishing equipment that I had always wanted. I've had my boat for 7 years now, and it still meets my needs perfectly, and I've done more fishing than ever. I even got back into ice fishing a couple of years ago after talking to a few Fish-Hawkers and seeing the all improvements in ice fishing equipment.

I guess you could say I'm back in my second childhood, but that's OK as it sure is FUN !!!

I work for a very Large Home Builder in the GTA. We are probably the largest of the crop in Canada (or soon to be) and starting to expand all over the U.S. with 8 Divisions there already. I am a Senior Estimator with them.

We are in Ottawa now, but I have no plans on working out there.

But its an office job, so how good can it be?

For people who would like to own thier own companies or be self employeed let me just say at the begginning it takes a lot of hours and hard work to make it last. We are customer driven and sometimes have to swallow our tongues to please them because without them we wouldn't be in bussiness. I worked many years in several fields before startting up my company of doing in house machine repairs on Automatic Screw Machines. One day I saw a need for for someone to goTO the customer to repair the machines rather than sending the machines back to the plant or to trouble shoot them at the customers location for them. Thus my company startted. I used to get calls all over the place at all hours of the day and night and would have to head out on the road when I was called. Health issues caused me to retire so now when I'm feeling good I like to get out and fish. I still get calls from customers with problems but now instead of going and doing the work I go and train thier employees to do the work. I'm more of a teacher than a doer now! LOL

The one thing I would like to share with most of you is that YOU are the most important assett a company has. Without workers companies can't stay in bussiness. unfortunately copanies don't like to tell thier employees that. Also most of you sound like BLUE COLLAR workers which means you are the backbone of your nation because you pay the brunt of the taxes! Have a nice day and maybe someday we will meet on the water.
