The Monday after the Party in the Prior, (what a great time) I started a week of holidays, or muskie fishing. Seeing as how I had won a Frabill Power catch net, and an 8' St. Croix I was eager to put them to the test.
Hit the water at the crack of 11 am, fished a few very productive spots with absulotely no productivity. By four o'clock I was beginning to lose patience, along with my first layer of skin from the rediculous heat. Head for the mouth of a bay so the girlfriend could try here luck with some bass.
As we pulled into the spot I cracked my 11th bottle of water for the day and told her a story about a large muskie that tried to attack a bass I was fighting back in bass fishing days. The huge wake coming through the water the bass leaping for it's life, as the muskie charged it with it's open white yap. By this time I am sure she thought I was deliorous from the heat.
I make my way to the front of the boat, drop the trolling motor, and snap on my favortie fire tiger muskie killer. Scan the area for clumps of cabbage and launch my first cast past a promising patch. I begin to reel as soon as it hits the water, as it nears the patch I pick up the speed, it's past it now, and what do I see, a wake building behind it. Befor I have a chance to tell my girlfriend to look, the big white yap opens and swallows my bait. What peceeded this was incredible, tail walking jumps, cartwheels and death rolls, but she is no match for that new 8' St. croix. I haul her towards the boat, and out comes the big Frabill, she slides in with relative ease.
Knees knockin' heart pumpin I hold the 51" beauty for a quick snapshot, before returning here to her home.

Thank you St. Croix and frabill for incredible generousity and a Gigantic Thank you to Kert and Kirsti for puuting this all together. First class all the way!
