I started fishing late last summer, I thought it might be fun to revisit an activity that I used to do with my parents when i was a kid. After a single afternoon (I think I got a smalley and a pike) I was addicted!
I googled for fishing forums that were local, and those that weren't. I wanted to know more about fishing in general and about the local scene. I came upon this one and it provided everything I wanted, and I liked the people who were posting and the general tone.
How did you find Fish-Hawk?

God, Luc, that brought back memories! CCB, you have a good memory! I think I did a search because I was renewing a family tradition of Canadian fishing, the most fun I have all year. The spring pike how to caught my attention and the rest is history.
It's a small world, as a kid I fished the Larry, one of my favorite spots back then turns out to be CCB's backyard! You can't make this stuff up!
I took a trip to Muscrat Lake a few years back and met a bunch of crazed Canadians, my life hasn't been the same since. I've met great, great, guys and dolls here, turns out I fished with Wolfe at Griffin's and didn't even know it, like I said, small world.
This site has become my old friend through the years, props to Hawk and Bobber, I wonder if they ever envisioned what it has become? My dad used to say you can pick your friends but family you're stuck with, I have chosen wisely!
Thanks to all for making this such a joy, with all the crap we go through in life it's nice to have a safe haven. Talk about a rant! Yikes, I never shudda had that girlie drink at da bar today!

I think I was looking for some fishing info and possibly a few decent spots not too far out in the sticks to fish. Found this joint out of the 400000 or so hits to my search and I'm glad.
Met some really good people and made some good friends and along the way fished with some truly awesome people.
As Martha Stewart would say, "It's a good thing."

I can still remember my first question on F-H. I was heading to the Madawaska river at Burnstown, and I had never fished that part of the river. So I asked for tips and tricks. I had heard about F-H from a friend who had looked for maps. Well I was pretty impressed with the info I got on my first post that I joined a couple of days later. I was pretty quiet for the first 6 months. But that changed very quickly. That next Winter I got back into icefishing after a being away from that for about 7-8 years. My first F-H outing was the ice-fishing outing that JP set up at the Aylmer Marina 2-3 years ago. I met Bowzog,Slushpuppy,JP. It was the first time I met Joco.
And I haven't looked back ever since. I used to go on the Internet once or twice a week for about 5 minutes. But that has also changed!!!!!!
F-H is a Stress Relief Haven for me, being from Northern Ontario the life in the Big City has it's drawbacks. There is no such thing as fast pace up there. I am still not used to the fast paced life.
So when I sit at the computer to go on F-H I leave all that behind and talk FISH.
