Hey guys,
I use the Megallan eXplorist 600. I've used the Garmin eTrex Vista Cx, and the H2O C. And personally, I like the eXplorist way more than the others.. reason being;
- Long battery life, (even in cold weather)
- Very easy to use (shortcut buttons/menus)
- Ton's of mapping software. (download-able or purchased.. SD cards, transfer to or from cpu)
- Ton's of storage
- Very fast connect/response.
- And it'll take a heck of a beating.
All in all, I suggest the eXplorist.. but again, personally preference.. Hope that helps yah out..
Tight Lines.

The handhelds are great units when held by the user. Once you mount them in a boat the screen is very small and difficult to view. Now, add 30 mph, some rough chop and the small screen is unreadable. I am only mentioning this for folks looking for a navigational tool on the dash of the boat, just be cautious when using a handheld as a dash mount unit.
I know I could never fish now with out a GPS in the boat...
