Sunburn-rockpiles-no fish!!!!!

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Sunburn-rockpiles-no fish!!!!!

Post by muskymatt »

Deckard and I made the trip up to Arnprior to participate in the MCI's rivers challunge yesterday , and what a day it was.

The sun was beating down relentlessly making for a beauty of a day, I could have and should have followed Deckards lead by putting on sun screen.By the time we got to the dinner I was baked  After 2 pints I felt fried.

We had full gps on the boat but that didn't stop us from smacking the rocks------4 times   ----all at a slow troll so no damage done but by the last time we looked at each other and laughed. We were supposedly in 18' of water and the next thing you know bang   ---not again

Oh and ----we didn't catch anything

Great day out and the scenery on the Ottawa is fantastic up there.
Thanks to Kert L. who organized the outing ,great job Kert.
And to Deckard for getting us home safe and sound

It sure was a great day and yes the sun did the number on me also, by the time we got in for dinner I was BAKED. You can tell I'm done when I can only kill one Beer  ... Thanks for the Great day Kert :!: and the nice 53 inch Muskie that Bob nailed in your boat was well deserved

The sun has been deadly as of late, I think I've gotten WAY too much of it lately. Too bad nothing was boated Matt and I hope there's no serious damage to the boat. Damn, 4 rocks?!

Musky Matt's only mistake was letting me drive the boat .... especially with the "trophy" I've got on my wall from the only other time I visited the "Upper" Ottawa. Fortunately, this time we were only at trolling speed.

Thanks for a great day of fishing Matt ... but we've really got to try some catching one of these days

yeh it was a hot one on the O, especially after the wind died. We had 1 fish at 7:15 then nothing for the rest of the day. I hit the same rock I hit every time I go there, each time I go a little bit further out and still "clonk". Engine up trolling motor down and it's casting time. Allthough I didn't catch a muskie, I did come away with first prize from the table - a nice new StCroix. Great weekend Kert, well organised and lotsa fun. looking forward to next year.

It's the most reduced mangled prop I've ever seen

Ady---congrats on that St. Croix it's a beauty!!!

Seems like hitting bottom is pretty popular, I don't feel so bad now that I've checked out the boat and hear everyone else does it too.

I also picked up a prop wrench from the prize table - guess I need a spare prop now - just in case

I've lived and fished in the Prior my entire life. GPS, marker bouys, years of experience out there. I to pulled the "what the Heck, that rock pile wasn't there before" trick on the weekend as well

Great day for sure. Alot of burnt out people at the dinner, but what a good meal. Just what we all needed.

Many thanks to Kert and Kirstie for all there hard work and hospitality :!: :D

Cheers

Sounds like a good day except for the rocks sneaking up on everybody, someone should mark them. I am not complaining about the sun there has been a serious lack of it this year so far.

wish I could blame a rock pile 'broke in' the new prop on the weekend by running over my own anchor
