arnprior catfish

I'm driving thru arnprior the last week of april and was wondering if there are channel cats to fish for this time of year. I know in june its good, but are they catchable in april

Check your map and the regs. The madawaska, missippi and Ottawa from Arnprior to RailRoad bridge are a Fish Sanctuary until the 2nd saturday in May. Go up river and that is fine. Should be lots of cats, just got to find where they are hiding.

You might also want to try just about any access point to the Ottawa River that you can find as it flows through Ottawa if that is a spot you are going through. Although in early spring I find my cats tend to be in current areas - it is still do-able.
