Like everyone one that was there knows, it was a great weekend, met some interesting people, got a few outings hooked up for next year. We all caught our PBF, and we did keep a couple of fish, there were five of us down in two boats, I see nothing wrong with that.

In fact I was one of the guys Turkeyman was yelling at for cleaning a sheepy. that fish would not have survived and I wasnt going to waste him , (no comments about food banks!!)

Sure looking forward to the next outing, again thanks to those responsible for all the work putting it together'

Hey... my grandparents.. who were from the old school... never threw out nothing... they would fillet the woolie.. then cut it into cubes.. small bite sized.. then drop into boiling salted water.. not long.. then scoop out and dip into melted butter... if I remember .. it tasted alot like shrimp.. it was actually tasty!.. give a try

The source of this misinformation is obvious...and it should be addressed....well hopefully it will be next fall....

I just hope when Quintefishing.com has their weekend at Merlands and they bring back 13, 14 and 15 pounders to be weighed in that someone brings this up again....because they'll be floatin in Picton Bay by suppertime....

Off of this topic now, I am interested to know if anyone fished after dark? We have had extremely good results in the past after dark, well into the night.

Fished dusk to about half hour after dark on Friday and the fishing was great. The fish where in the top 10ft of the water column.

Id like to see what happens to the locals if everyone stayed home for a couple years and let them go on unemployment after hearing them bash very obviously a group of concerned and respectful fisher people like ourselves. I also think that their should be more signs asking for catch and release. Right on the dock as the last thing you see should be an explaination of what is the best size walleye to keep to eat. I caught Way More than my far share and everyone of them went back 9, 10 pounders never even came out of the net.

I hope after all this that the locals are told by you guys who came in here with this info tell them they are FULL of it and if they had a problem they should have spoke up then. (cowardish talk and greedy local fishermen is how i see this)

Hi All,

I must say it was the first time I ever went walleye fishing and I doubt that I will do any better. Many thanks to Fishhawk, Bobber and all the other hawkers in putting up a great weekend. Special thanks to Roughrider, Grumpy, John, Big-O, and Topwater for making the trip so enjoyable and educational. I have numerous walleye pictures but at this point they start to look the same. I was even thrilled to catch a 10+ sheepie. Again, it was a fantastic long weekend and I really enjoyed meeting you all, it was well worth the 9 hour trip. I will be back again to use what I learned.

Crash, yeah missed meeting a few people , too much water and too little time, but dont knock a sheepy till you try it, they eat bait fish like eyes and salmon, fight better than an eye...oh no the secrets out... seriously cant say it any better than Jimmysdream did , garlic and salt , taste like lobster cross shrimp. Try it sometime youll be suprised and no one will say a word if you a few in the live well!!!

Well what a fishery! Trophy fish after trophy fish. First, I'd like to thank Roughrider for putting OntarioDreaming and myself on fish big time. RR knows Walleye and the BOQ, that's for sure.

It was also good to see some familar faces from FH and others I'd have never met before. Topwater and Big-O were also great guests and shared a lot of fish stories and techniques. All around super guys.

Here are some shots from Captain Roughrider's boat. I don't want to steal RR's thunder as I know he will have a bunch more photos. These were take by OD, thanks again.

I was lucky enough to bag two really nice fish, this is the 12.5lb, I also had an 11lber.

Now that we are back on topic

Well Quinte for me was a weekend of firsts
1st time fishing at Quinte
1st time using planer boards on a mast
1st time using in-line bds
1st time fishing in 4+ft waves and 40+click winds
1st time catching walleye larger then musky bait.

Some of the pics Scooter has posted already so I won't double post.
Friday started for at 5am, drove to Merlands, checked in, unloaded then waited for Scooter and Allan to wake-up.
Once gassed up and loaded (no dock mishaps, Scooter (ouch) and Allan can fill in the blanks there….)
Out we headed past the light house.
We set the lines up..4 rods on the planer, 2 on the riggers with cheaters. The planer lines were set at approx. 160 - 200 ft back. I set mine with a Mann 20 fire tiger and a Desert sunset.

Well it wasn't too long before the 1st fish. A 29" beauty. The largest Walleye I've ever caught and released.
After resetting up it wasn't long before another. After that the rest of the baits got changed to something similar to the tiger.
While Allan drove, Scooter and I continued to catch fish. He kept saying he had his lucky hat but couldn't catch fish.
Well the rod behind him went off, I reached over and hand it to him…This was the start of our 1st double header. In came Allan's and Scooter's fish. Allan's was a whopper but had a burst bladder.. Took a quick pic, turned to get the tape measure and 2 more lines go. In the box goes Allan's , in the water goes Scooters. 2nd double header under way. What a blast….

Allan we should have measured that fish after we got everything set back up….didn't get to measure till about 5hrs later 29.75+" (I think there was a little shrinkage) (I wont show the pic)

I couldn't have asked for a better day. Thanks guys

Saturday's weather was not looking great (Quinte norm I'm told) so everyone planned to get out early before it got real rough.
Breakfast came and went (yummmmm) no sign of Scooter… Allan eventually appeared and said if I wanted to go out, better search for another ride. Scooter was out cold. So I hooked up with Jale and Samsquanch and off we went. Jale and Samsquanch posted the pics.
It was a bumpy ride out but not terrible (hang on to your seat..I was riding the suicide chair ).
Fishing was definitely slower but we did mange some fish (Jale neglected to mention one of the 5 we caught was a 4" perch on a Manns 20 ,talk about being a glutten ). The color of the day for me was the desert sunset and the wonder bread. About 3 -3:30 we bounced our why backing (again in the suicide seat…my tail bone is still sore)

The Bobber dome effort from the night before was well worth it….Big-O and Topwater cooked up some fantastic deep fried turkey, and the Livewell's fries were good to.

Thanks FishHawk & Bobber for a fantastic weekend. Also thanks to all the rest who made this weekend come together.
This will be a weekend that is hard to beat.

Great weekend!! Want to thank all involved for a job well done Spent most of the weekend sleeping So I didn't meet as many as I wanted, rough week leading up sorry. Lots of friendly faces and great laughs. The weekend was for fishing and fishing I did! Day 1 I fished with the livewells, Bill and I were a little lure shy but we gave it our best and everyone in the boat landed a fish, just wish we had found the bananas in the lunches a little sooner The day (fri.) started out cold and frosty but ended hot and calm.
I think Bill was toying with the Glenorra Ferry here!



A few pops and sausage and off to bed! Day 2 Sat was fishing with Hoss and I was primed to do a little better!



Rough and kicking but no problem for us. Now Hoss has shown you the fish pics but I want to add a memorable moment. It's afternoon were 4 for 7 and a fish hits the outside board, port side, I grab the rod and Hoss starts reeling in the inside board to avoid a foul up we encoutered earlier. While reeling he says "a double would be nice", the Norse Gods are smiling and the and in seconds the outside starboard board goes The Big Man asked for it and he got it! 2 rods in play and 2 lines to clear when Hoss declares a bladder emergency Well we landed both fish but we did foul 1 line. We take a couple of pics release the fish and reset lines. within no time Fish On! Now were both insisting the other should take the rod, I end up with it. This fish near pulled my arms out of my sockets, my first Quinte sheeps head and what a fight! Again great weekend!
