Hey all,
I'm heading up to the 1000 islands on the 23rd thru 27. This is my 4 year and I am always amazed at the lack of online resourses. I can only find 1 fishing report and that is the 1000 island bait store.
I am wondering what the water depth is. The waterways where I live are so low due to lack any rain this summer. We go to Gannanoqua and rent a houseboat and bring flat bottom boats to fish out of and I just wondered if we would have trouble docking at some of the islands.
We seem to catch most of our fish trolling (probably because we don't know how to fish the area) the biggest we ever caught was 32" and skinny as a rail.
I hear that the 40 acre shoals is the place for musky. We are thinking of hitting that the first night.
We usally fish around the islands of Camalot, Sundown island, and the other lake fleet islands. 2 years ago we fished eel bay with a little sucess. I also hear that Lake of the Isles is good? We are fishing for the toothy critters instead of bass.
Anyone is welcome to stop by for a beer and fish stories. We will be in a big blue house boat with an american flag flying . Breakfast at about 10am, Dinner 5pm. I also have a marine radio I just bought but I have no idea what channel we will be using

Hey Ty
Hope you have a successful trip. Beware the 40acr. shoal, this area can whip up real nasty in even a moderate west wind. If you are in a flat bottom boat I'd not recommend going out there unless the weather is calm and very stable. Your right though, this is the place to be for big Muskie..... if there are many left after this years devastating kill off
Not sure about water levels but I think they are stable. You should have no trouble getting around.
Be sure to let everyone know how you made out.

Ty,
Welcome to the site.
I have not fished the St. Lawrence yet, but I know plenty here have, so hopefully you'll get some more info, in addition to Muskiemagnet's advice.
Hope you have a nice vacation; it sounds like a good time. Look'g forward to your report with some "toothy critters" in the tally.

Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.
Hey TY,
I have just the website for you,
http://emballeurquebec.tripod.com/
The only thing is that it's in french. But I'm sure even if you don't speak or read french, you will be able to find a few info there.
Long live to bilingual people lol!

Hi Ty,
The St. Lawrence water levels are down slightly, maybe one foot, you should have no problems with navigation or Island docks. Things are starting to get active with water temps droping to the low 70's. The Muskie are still alive and well. Last two trips out in the 40 acre area produced a 54 1/2",51 and 44"er. Troll edges 4-5 MPH, perch pattern works.

Hi Ty,
Welcome to the site. I live in Gan. The area you mention is where I cut my teeth as an angler. What Muskie Rush said regarding muskies is correct along the drop and off points. In fact anywhere from 7 Pine all the way around those windswept islands like Leek, Juniper (and the 40 acre shoal) etc to the outside edge of the Admiralty Group could cough up a big muskie. If your staying in the Lake Fleet consider around Gananoque Narrows and Gordon Island as well.
Last fall I got into some nice walleye. I'm curious if that pattern will stand up this fall. Make sure you have some big bucktail jigs (3/8 oz) black/lighter color and some 4-6" twisters as trailers. They are dynamite on pike.
Sounds like you know you're way around. You won't have any problem docking at any of those islands you mentioned. Sounds like a great trip. The river then is at at its best as far as I'm concerned. The pleasure boats have gone for the season and a nice calm descends over the river and you get an idea of what it once must have been like at one time.
I think i'll take you up on that invite to stop for a beer.

Ty:
I can confirm no problem with the water levels or docking at any of our Park islands.
Camelot/Endymion/Aubrey(Burnt)/Thwartway(Leek- mooring buoys right around the corner from the 40 Acres), etc. all in decent waters, and as ganman mentioned- you might want to try the Gordon Island area.
Which outfit do you rent from? I'll keep an eye out for you.
CCB
Greg- nice to see you can still find the big girls.

I am going with Houose Boat holidays.
We will have a TV antenna attached to the top of the house boat.
I love it it up there...your right about the boats. We are lucky if we see more than 15 boats during our entire trip.
Black/light color buck tails...what color of twister trailer? I'll have to get some all the buck tails I have are red and white.
What is the price of gas there?
