Big Rideau info

Post by bordu »

Hi, we are planning a one day trip to Big Rideau Lake next week. Was wondering if anyone fished there lately. I will be my first time there. Will try for lakers. Any tips or information would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Was out on Big Rideau Sunday June 26th for 3 hours in the afternoon 2 til 5. Had 9 lakers on and landed 5 (Was teaching a few newbies  ) just west of Murphy Point Provincal Park on the North Shore. 33 feet down over 100ft of water on down riggers and inline planer borads with snap weights. All fish came on 3" gold crank baits at 2.5 mph.

Good luck.

Lakers are still active. Down Rig the main channel deep....100 to 120 feet was where I was ctaching them. Gang Troll with minnows or Gold and Silver whitefish Williams with a 2 foot snell and minnow was working as well. Early morning you can find them at 70-90 feet.

I trolled at 140 feet and caught a 28 incher 10lb laker. Biggest I ever pulled out of that lake.

Good Luck.

Downrigger,

That is a nice laker for Big Rideau, congrats on the catch. Also glad to hear they are hitting at the 70-120 depth also.

On my temp probe the cold water starts at 20ft, from 30 feet down not much change in temp.

cheers'
