la ruisseau de la brasserie love/hate realationship

Post by Mike Lennox »

as many of you may know, le fete de la peche was help at la ruisseau de la brasserie again. Ive went there a few times-the fishing was alot of fun. i caught 9 bows in 3 evenings. 2 which were stocked last year 11 and 12 inchers. It is not a vcery nice stream but a trout is a trout and catching one at champlain is too hard  The fishing is grotesque. Some of these people have no dignity and if they see you catch one they will cast to where you are fishing. My liove has been crossed by the same person at least 6 times.
Oh well, at there was some catching involved

Hey yung and joco. Is this place a pond? How big is it?

That made me laugh...5ft tall and I would have asked if you caught a brown. I could picture you. Keep at it, browns are just another fish nothing more difficult about them. I'm sure you'll get one soon.

I was supposed to go flyfishing tommorrow for them but my knee is hurting too bad to wade.

Ganman you have seen yung. We saw you and your daughter in Gananoque on mothers day fishing around the docks ;) You told us about the steelhead that u saw around some bridge.

La ruisseau is a large creek that branches off the Ottawa River, and makes hull an island. It is stocked with 9000 bows and 250 browns

My friend got a small one around dusk. They rise just about every night around 9.15-9.30 like MAD, i have no idea what they're rising too but if anyone figured it out they would bag about 100 in an hour. I thought it might be some midges cuz i couldn't see anything on the water so i figured it was too small to see, and switched to the Griffith Gnat. No luck :( my friend got one on a goddard caddis though (?) there were no caddis i think...

any ideas?

Big Caddis fly hatches on the Rideau lately so I would think the same might be true over there. The Ottawa usually has good Stonefly hatches as well.

I've been told that the fly of choice for browns on the Ottawa is usually a black woollybugger or a muddler minnow.
