Last summer I came home from Mississippi Lake w/a Pike and an Eye No one was home,so I batteres all the fillets and fried at same time. My wife,whom is not a fish eater had both.
She liked the pike better but for her it was more the texture of the fish than the taste.
I have cooked white fish and pike from nippissing and the white fish again was different in texture and taste from the pike.

I find all white flesh fish taste the same, especially when cooked in the same manner.
The only fish I can taste difference between are with different types of flesh.
Pinks (trout, salmon, etc), whites (walleye, perch, bass, etc) and coarse flesh (cats, shark, etc.) all taste somewhat different.
Kinda like lager, ale, pilsner...
Gotta go.

I played a simlar trick when I was way up north in Nakina last summer.
The locals pull walleye out by the dozen and bash pike continuously saying they taste fishy and aren't "sweet" like walleye. While we were filleting the days catch of 20+ walleye, I filleted a few 5+ pound pike, deboned them completely and cut them in walleye size fillets.
After a quick flour fry the crew proceeded to inhale the pile of crispy fish. I asked how the walleye was:
"Sweet! Great"
"Better than Pike eh?"
"No comparison!"

In the end it doesn't matter what you think, I just shudder when I hear stories of people batting pike off their line with a paddle.
