Hogs Back walleye?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

NCC Authority at Hogs Back

Post by 'Bass'aria »

I have met the very same lady, she was definately pleased with her powers. I did nothing wrong and was treated as guilty until proven innocent. They do have the authority and can be a bit rude.
topraider wrote:Leakyboot, I had the same questions as you, the local MNR came in one evening to speak to our club, we posed the question, and the answer is yes, they can enforce the provincial regulations, i.e. demand a licence.

I have mixed feelings about this, the NCC lady who checked me out one evening came across as somewhat officious, not the sort of person you would want interacting with the public. I have been checked by the MNR many times over the years, they were all friendly, courteous and professional.

On the other hand, places like hogsback are ( or were) frequented by folks who regularily break the rules, if the NCC can put a stop to it, great.
In terms of the fishin, i lived at the apartments at POW and found the eyes to be there but sparce, most likely due to the pressures from harvest type anglers. There also is the elusive muskie under the falls that is suppose to be 6 ft long... no proof, but sure makes for great motivation!

Made a call to the Kemptville MNR. Apparently, the NCC has their own CO's who enforce MNR rules. It amazes me that we can be so free and easy giving away police powers to any Tom, Dick or Harriet.

I guess my next question is why? Why does a federal department feel the need to have their own branch to enforce a tiny subset of provincial laws on such a miniscule parcel of land? Why are the 30 million or so Canadians who don't live here paying for it? How does this enhance in any way, shape or form the Nation's Capital. Of course, the NCC is a very secretive unaccountable organization to begin with.

I stand corrected if somewhat perplexed.

cheers,

Hi Ransome
Thought you targeted your remarks about where below Black Rapids did we catch the eyes at the OLD guy. Just upriver from Hunt Club Bridge west side there is some riprap. We cast from 60 feet out to shore and pulled Tenessee Fat free shads out to us. Right now there are 3 missing in action FFS probably in the mouths of BIGGER TOOTHIER Critters.
We did not feel any weight just the LURES vanished. darn hard to find those bigger Fat Free Shads going down 12-16 feet, but have gotten a lead this afternoon. Will be there thursday AM for more.

The NCC folks are sworn in Peace Officers. They CAN enforce MNR regs and they choose to do so regularly. They were given the right since there is so many water access points along NCC property.

Chalk that lady up with Blue fever  and keep the lines wet.

Well txs all for the replies. I've found it all very interesting esp the NCC's powers, I was unaware of them. Well either way I'll be hitting Hogs Back or Black Rapids come Sun. I'll just keep my eyes peeled for the dreaded NCC lady. I guess showing her some leg wouldn't help eh? LMAO!
