Wondering if any crappie are biting in the lower Rideau Lake area yet? Any open waters within that area worthwhile trying? Normally i go mid April but hoping can get out sooner.

yes withdrawal is right! drove to a lock to try and only 20 feet of open water but no bites yet!

You still have 2 or so weeks untill they start. After that it's the beginning of a great season to come.

Correct....Crappie are still biting under the ice....so we still have 2 more weeks of icing giants before the bays warm up and a full on assault!

Any incoming creek will hold em at certain times....go for a drive around the area....lots of spots for ya!
Pop into Manotick bait too....Dan or Baitgirl will likely help ya out...

I tried the Manotick area on the weekend and not one bite yet. Maybe I'll try this coming weekend.

we cought quite a few perches and sunfishes on week-end.
a few nice but smaller basses and 3 stinky pikes whish we let go too.
Catched mainly on worms...and friends son was lucky enoughh to catch with net a few along side of lock.

Of course you released the bass to right??? As for the net is that legal???
Fishing isn't a matter of life and death....
It's much more important.
