Musky Lures
Hey Guys,
Here's the story... Myself and another member are heading out to Rideau River Wednesday after work to troll around, and hope to find us a Musky between the two of us.
I being an absolute musky newbie, was wondering if anyone could suggest their favorite musky bait.
I only plan on buying 1-2 lures, as price is a factor.
So far thinking about getting a black bucktail (musky-sized of course), but not sure of the second choice... Any Suggestions?

The Rideau, for me anyway, is very much a casting venue. hit the weed flats, and there's lots of them, with a suick type bait. For bait No2, I would probably go for a large spinnerbait. As already said, pop in to bits-n-baits. Probably the best place around for Muskie baits. See their Fudally and Beaver selection, you will have trouble getting them anywhere else unless you mail order.
I use riverrat spinner baits, you can ckeck out their website at www.riverratlures.com. Good quality and have had really good luck with them on the rideau

If your only going to have a couple baits a 2oz or heavier, tandem spinnerbait is a must. They are the most versatile baits out there. The can be fished from surface to bottom, weeds, rocks, wood. Trolled or casted.
I dont think you could find one serious musky guy out there who wouldn't praise a spinnerbait.
Second choice would be a prop style surface bait, Just for entertainment.

Welll...
Well Brad and I picked up a couple spinner baits, and bucktails and headed out... We trolled the weed-edge using the spinnerbaits and came up with 1 OOS Bass, 3 Pike about 4lb, and one Walleye 2-2.5lbs, which is now in my tummy!!
All in all a good night, no muskies, but some fish.
I REALLY need to get a Musky Rod...
I was using a Convergence 7' Heavy, that Is setup for pike/bass... but with the size of them spinners, it's hard to get a decent hook set...
Joco, Wedding Gift? LOL!!!!!
Oh to have money for all the toys we want!
