Daiwa CND custom ML eyelets
Daiwa CND custom ML eyelets
I bought a Daiwa CND custom rod for a Ned/drop shot set up. I find the top eyelet is always catching my leader knot? I haven’t had this before and find my knots usually pretty low profile. I’m tying an Alberto knot. Anyone have this issue with these rods?

Try tying the FG knot and see if anything changes before blaming the rod . I’m not familiar with that particular rod but I do see in pictures of it that the tip is a bit recessed compared to the runners and that might be a problem ( in which case the solution is either to replace the tip with another one one size up or to return the rod and look for a better one). Good luck!

Oh man the horrors of learning that knot last year. I’ll give it a go. How hard is it to replace eyelets? Appreciate the help.kingofbeasts wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 10:32 pm Try tying the FG knot and see if anything changes before blaming the rod . Oh the horrors indeed. The Alberto knot is great but I found that even after a year of using it I’d still mess it up and have to redo it most times I tied it. Eventually I just gave up and started using a double-uni.

Interesting. I find the Alberto knot way easier.

Huh. Interesting. I will admit that once you're comfortable with the Alberto knot it can be a lot faster than the double uni, but it was just too finnagly for me.

Yeah I’d like to think I got it down to a science now. That’s how I felt doing the FG. It’s so tough.

It’s not hard to replace the tip, the hard part is ordering it ( you have to identify brand, model, colour and insert type) and have it delivered to you( from US) if you want an exact match with the rest of the guides.
To replace it you just need to warm up with a lighter the existing one and pull it off and then put the new one with some glue from a glue gun.
