Not sure if this is old hat to some of you guys but I came across these Wacky Weights and can't wait to try them.
( Had to special order them in from the States. )
The idea being that your hook goes through the loop in the weight so you don't damage the worm? You can vary the weights
depending on the conditions / depth etc.
Not a bad idea. What's the weight of those??
Isn't the fall of a weightless senko part of the allure?? I guess if you were going deep those would definitely help or if you wanted to really bomb a senko out there.
I have just recently seen similar used on the head of the bait to allow the head to sink and tail to rise up a bit. A variation of a Carolina rig. I have not seen the used as a whacky rig.

They come in a few different sizes. 1/32 , 1/16, 1/8 and 3/16. It adds a bit of weight to the worm but exposes more of the hook and at 90 degrees so supposedly better for hook set. The push is for saving your plastics ( not having to remove and re-insert the hooks causing worm damage).
I have seen them on tacklewarehouse but didn't give much thought to them.
I use a 3/16 oz wacky jig for almost all of my wacky rigging in waters from about 3-7 feet deep. I can usually get about 3-5 fish off of my sick sticks before I have to replace them and they work great will the added weight of the jig.
I used something similar last yr the weight allowed a faster drop in deeper water and to punch through lite moss/grass. I have also used the weighted rings for senko's were the hook passes through the middle of the weight & senko which also worked well in deeper water.

Supposedly Bass Pro has them but when I checked, it was so new, none of the stores had any stock. In fact, they had never even heard of them. That may be different now. You can see them on their website (Eco Pro® Tungsten Pro Wacky Weights). So you can probably order them online from BPS as well.
I happened to use some online guy out of the U.S. ( JohnnysPond ). I came across him last year when I was looking for some " Super Duper" lures for Trout
fishing that I couldn't find anywhere. Pretty quick response - will ship asap if you need him to. Seems to be able to get anything.
Anyway, I haven't really put in any time yet with the Wacky Weights, but they look great and I can't wait to get them wet.
