This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

I fish for splake a lot in the winter but only on lakes in Lanark County area...They are fun for sure and for me are pretty easy to catch...Try a swedish pimple tipped with a small chunk of minnow or worm...Try jigging slowly and increase the jigging if nothing bites...Once you have one strike slow the jigging down again or even let the bait sit there...They hit the line like perch but a bit more finicky with the hook-ups. Try bays and structure in about 5ft-15ft of water or by inlet and outlet streams. Other than that just keep at it and you will be rewarded. I also like to try a medium hook with just a peice of minnow on it for fun. It is not as succesful for me but still catch them. Don't expect anything to big as most will be in the 10-16" range for smaller lakes. I have heard of people catching 4lbers + from some lakes...Good luck and post a report with your success or non success.
