Need suggestions for a spinning rod!!!

Hi Guys

My birthday is coming up and my wife tells me you should make a wish list on cabelas or basspro. Don't you need a new rod.

So guys I am looking for a spinning rod to cast crankbaits and spinnerbaits. Do you guys have any suggestions, I havve always been a Shimano guy but I want to start looking at some other brands. The Fenwick Techna AV look nice.

Any comments are welcome

Here's a couple of recommendations I would give. I own both these rods (although in a lighter action than you are looking for, as mine are used for tubes, jigs and senkos..) Great sensitivity and have worked extremely well for me...

dh: Take a look at the new Compre by Shimano. In the past, I have not been a great fan of Shimano rods, although I always loved their reels. Last year with the Crucial, and this year with the Compre, they have totally changed the blank(they are designed by the G Loomis designer), and I feel they are rods that can more than compete with any other blank in their price range.

No doubt I have to agree with Ed on this one!!! Played with a few of em, not on the water but in house, and man light sensetive, and an all round amazing rod for the buck!

I had a shimano compre the older ones and it was pretty heavy, I am going to have to check out the new ones, I just need to find a store around here that carries them, I find the often carry the lower end rods. That must be their market.

The new Shimano Compre's are awesome

. Totally redesigned and improved. They are definately going to be the hottest selling rod of the season.

Well Guys

My wife bought me a new rod for my birthday she bought me the new Shimano Crucial in medium actoin 6 feet 8 inches. I can't wait to use it, I change my mind a bit and ended getting a a rod for jigging, and casting small crankbaits, a good all round rod.

Man I am so lucky to have her, now I got to get her to buy me a new reel for it.

I purchased a Rapala Long Casting rod a couple years back and find it to be a great rod. I use it exclusivly for casting spinners and cranks.

i just picked up 2 of the new st.croix triumph rods from ed ,and haven't tried them yet, but they seem to be every bit as good as their premier line, and the price is nice. best value for the money i think. cant wait to try em ! thank's ed
