Shiner Lake

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Shiner Lake

Post by bobfly »

It grieves me to make this report, being as I am, a diehard flyfisher but I got skunked on Shiner Lake today. However, one other boat landed 4 bows and several misses on a green lure imitating a cricket. Nice day to be on the water though.

bobfly :(
think I'll sneak into Canadian Tire with my sunglasses on and check out the lures.

This pond/lake has skunked me more then any other, so don't feel bad. As one guy told me while I was fishing "it's Par for the course".

I think the fat Pike roaming that lake are doing much better then most anglers

Buzzer,

If that is the same pike that was in there last year, he was at least 5 pounds then, must be a real chunk now, I'll have to stop in with my Bomber Long A Rainbow trout pattern!!!

Cheers

I've seen a few smaller ones in the past but the one I saw a few weeks ago was more then 30+ inches...... not shy either. Would love to get them out of this pond once the season opens.

I imagine I might do better fishing for pike then bows

Wonder if they hit the same lures as I normally catch them on? i.e. spinner baits, buzz baits......
