Ice augers

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Hate to be the only disenter here, but try a Lazer Strikemaster auger. You won't get them for $30 at Walmart, if you're lucky you can get one on sale at a tackle shop for $80-90, but it makes the Swede and the Finn lfeel like junk. Pay the extra money once, good for life.

Hell, the Lazer replacement blades are almost as much as the Finn Bore!

I can't coment on the strikemaster as ive never seen one on the ice!

Caseys Dream Do you know the differance between a finbore and a swedbore?
A 6"swedbore sell's for $60-$70 and a 6" finbore sell's for around $100. Ive had several swedbore's given to me for free, but I had to buy my finbore as no one was willing to part with theres! I can tell you that a finbore is ten times the auger that a swedbore will ever be

Swedbore

Post by Bruin »

I have a manual swedbore ....Then for xmas my intelligent beautiful thoughtful, caring, awesome wife bought me a Jiffy gas auger
The only time the manual gets used now is when we snowshoe into Lake Superior Park for trout other than that gas all the way...BUT my manual works just fine for me....I too keep it sharp and as dry as possible

i see that this thread is a seesaw battle so my answer would be
I think you are safe with either....I can only comment on the swed as I have never used a finn

either way tight lines

Hey Jiggy, don't know the difference between a Swede bore and the Finn bore. Here is a sale going on at BassHaven Lake St Clair

---ALL IN STOCK Lazer Augers(Black Magic))...STILL your choice of size...$99.95...Save $29.95

---ALL IN STOCK Mora Hand Augers(the Blue one)...$44.95...Save $25...6 left in stock

---ALL IN STOCK Normark Fin-Bore Augers...$64.95...Save $25...2 left in stock.

I had a Swede, it sucked comared to a Lazer. The Lazer won the fasted hand auger in the world competition, it's sweet.
