Were can I fish open water this weekend?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Theres some big carp in the Grand River near fergus, check the regs though because of bait restrictions and single barbless hooks. You'll usually find a school or two in the calm back bays and really deep slow pools. I've hooked most of mine fishing for trout and had to break them off before they spooled me. The guys at www.grandrivertroutfitters.com would know more about fishing it this time of year.

We've done well at ontario place and the lake shore at the GM plant in Oshawa. You could also try the detroit river, you might even hook into a sturgeon and some walleye.

I was thinking of going to Deshenes Rapids for some cats tommorow.I have caught alot of bullheads in that hole over the past couple spring flood. You have to fish about 100meters down the raod from the main flow of rapids .We tried there a couple of weeks ago but left because of the high windchill.

That spot is near the golf course. It is Deshenes Rapids about 100 meters away from the main flow. There is a parking lot at the end of the road where you can park  .It is about a 5 minute walk from there, nice little spot with lots of carp and cats.
