Constance Lake Report

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Joco,

Nowhere to buy minnows... :(

It is 15 minutes past Kanata on the Dunrobin Rd....once you are on the Dunrobin rd. off of March Rd. It is on the Right hand side about 5 minutes down Dunrobin rd.

Hope this helps!

It was an awesome start to the new season. I see some things never change unfortunately - Saskette outfished me again 3-2, and she got the largest (10in)

Minnows are available in Constance Bay, which is just about 10min past Constance Lake on Dunrobin Rd. There's Bayview Bait on Bayview (follow the signs, but good luck catching him at home) and another retired gentleman on Baird St (third(?) right) who's more expensive ($6/doz) but he's always open. He also has crawlers and leeches. Both places also rent shacks on Constance and/or Buckhams Bay.

Lake can also be accessed via the public access (no $5 parking fee) via Kerwin Rd. Coming from Kanata turn Right at the Macewans gas station (Kerwin Rd). Follow it until you cross the train tracks (it will become 5th Line Rd at some point). After the tracks watch for Berry Side Rd (I think its the first road after the tracks - but could be wrong). Turn Left and follow it to the lake. There's a sign marking the parking area (quite small) and the access path to the lake. You'll come out on the lake on the other side directly across from Constance Lake Lodge.

It was great to finally get out ice fishing on Saturday, and catch a few fish and see a bunch of the hawk-talkers again. My wife is away for the weekend so I had to take my 2 year old daughter out (she is in sakie's picture sitting quietly in the pink hat) which surprisingly went well. She was very content for the 5 hours we were out.

Thanks TLSea for the hot chocolate, and JP for drilling my holes. I'll have to fix my power auger this week (wouldn't start).

I ended up catching 6 pike, largest 23.5" and a handful of small perch.

Back for more this afternoon fished mostly off the point and a bit where we were yesterday opposite the Lodge in front of the 2 float planes.
Caught 2 snot rockets, a 7in perch and missed a couple hits.
