Logjammin with Floatfishin and Rox

Post by bucketmouth »

Whew, what a day.

I joined FF and Rox for the log jam removal on Bowmanville Creek organized by the guys at floatfishing.net. It took only 2 hours for the 15 or so of us to clear ALOT of wood, bikes, traffic cones, and a ton of other disturbing crap you'd rather not see in a fishing hole.

We had fished the pool just ahead of the logjam early this morning and besides a smolt that Kev caught we thought that maybe that would be all the CHROME we'd catch today....
'Til this bad boy showed up! Lots of Chrome left on er. Kevin brought her home to park next to his VANgina (yes, Kev is now the proud owner of a minivan).

Well, since that creek was pretty much too low and clear to hold many fish we decided to head eastward and we were very glad we did. We both hooked into beautifully coloured 'bows. I'd never seen such colorful fish before.

All in all it was a good day out and I look forward to our next outing in a few weeks.

Oh, and Rox Andretti it was a pleasure to meet you. You put my personal best travel time to shame by at least 30 minutes, you speed freak.

You wanna get there fast, let Rox drive.

Good for you, all. Thanks for doing such great clean up work on your own time. What a difference in the before & after shot.

Pretty fish, too.

W.
Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.

Ahhhhh yes........May I begin by sayin,,,,Bucket, You my friend are cut from a different stone brother!!!!!Comes out floatin once, ONCE!!!!And the man is right there to offer his help(And what a hand he lent I tell ya!!!)For a removal of the log jam that was causing stoppage to spawning fish to pass through. You my friend are in without no question, one of the hardest workin men in town  (No pun  )What a great guy to have on our and the fishes side!!!!!!Don thx a mill bro!!!!!!!!!!

Now,,,,,,,We arrive EARLY  Still dark out, and we put glo sticks on our floats and head to the river to get a quick drift or 2 in b4 the Jam comences.Well I turned 1 a good fish but no dice  Then a smolt offers his service by dropping my float(For those who arent familliar with the term"Smolt",It is a last year fish who is ready to head back to the lake,I.E a small bow)So lots, and I mean lots of laughs  We decide to head for coffee, and wait for the Jam crew to arrive.Bout 10am we r ready to tackle this beast :D We head out in full riot gear to remove these logs and A ton of garbage :shock:With lots of big smiles and great friends we hammered this puppy off in no time!!!! :D

So with Don's(New ride  , or FF's new ride I should say  ) The pilins cosisted of.......Lots of wood, 2 pylons, a whack of garbage, did we mention the bike yet??? , A car seat, yes a full double van car seat  and a whack of fishin line left behind.

My hat goes off to all involved, and a big thx to me gal Roxy for puttin up with a whack of trash talkin fisherman at work

Now, as Bucket posted, we headed to a different trib(Good Idea!!!) We get there in fine fashion and think, hmmmmmmmmmm, water is up and lets toss a bit O roe  Well FF in fine fasion looses 3 fish(well missed 2 on the hook set and lost one in battle)Well I decide "hey Im gonna get a refreshment from the van"To when Rox says "Kev FISH ON!!!"Wait she aint fishin  I look over the van and Bucket is in knee deep battle with the sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet colored fish posted above :D Awsome I am ok with no fish, and so was Bucket( but inside I really wanted him to get one)Well after a subdued battle, Bucket wraps up this fish for a few sweet shots(By our camera gal Roxy :D )Well FF is right content now :D Log Jam done, and Bucket gets a fish.

Well Ok OK , I guess FF has to get one too right :D With both Bucket and Rox watchin, FF's float drops  FISH ON BABY!!!!!!!

A battle ensues and A sweet fish was landed :D A pile of High 5's from Bucket and I and whaaaa, how do you top a day like that!!!!

So in the end FF lost another in battle, but was more than happy with the day :D :D :D

A team effort put forth by all today, and cant express my thanks to all involved, and to the fishies for playin nice too

2 weeks Bucket, bro we r on again!!!!!!!

Great job FF. Great pics 2. Everybody wins with a project like that. We should do a clean up of a section of the Ottawa or Rideau. It is all our resource.
JP
Great report again.

JP, you have more than one guy to offer that help aswell!!!!!I would love to take part in a river clean up in the area, though these clean ups take alot of phone calls and resources to make happen. Not sayin in anyway we couldnt do it :D Just to say its not a bunch of guys who jump and say lets go clean

We r part of a Conservation Group that dedicates some free time to offer better habitat to the Tributaries fisheries.Totally non profit, but the rewards are much better than as my son would say when he was young "Paper Money Dad  "

Gimme a buzz, maybe next week we can sit over a few "pops" and try to put a game plan on paper, then take our proposal to the right people.m sure we could grab a few fellow FH'ers to offer a few hrs :D

Just an idea  :D
