Ottawa river water levels / debris

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Ottawa river water levels / debris

Post by Olivier Livernoche »

Just wondering if anybody here has been out on the Ottawa river this week and how the water levels are and if there are a bunch of debris floating around.

Thanks
Olivier

Below the city, after yesterdays rainfall I bet there's lots of "debris".

Water levels are a little low for this time of year. Debris isn't bad at all. Water is very murky in some areas. Fishing is ok.

Went fishing twice since this post.......What a disaster....
So me and my buddy fished riviere du lievre on the QC side for a few hours but had no luck so we moved in to the bay/creek at the mouth of the river. Within 30 minutes we were pulled over by 2 Agents de la faune du Quebec . They checked our lures out (buzzbait and jerk bait for pike) and made sure our livewell was empty even though I had told them several times that we had no luck. Once that was out of the way, we headed towards petrie's small boat launch. Somewhere between the last luxury house on the left hand side and the marina, I ran into an old ancre line that was abandoned with the ancre still attached!!! I did cut as much excess rope as i could (NOTE: I HAD NOTHING TO MARK IT OFF BE EXTREMELY CAREFULl IF COMING UP LEFT HAND SIDE INTO THE SMALL BOAT LAUNCH.

Guess what, My prosportsc 16 with a 30hp came to a dead stop from full pin. When i checked what hapenned after making sure my friend was ok), I leaned over the water and to make things better i heart a big splash and sure enough i found my wallet and my smokes in the water. What i didnt realise after i scooped those up is that the splash was actually my car / trailer lock keys. Price for new keys with FOB from hyundai...take a guess...no more then that...459$....

The only thing i caught were 2 small saugers (think it was the same fish). Through all this, I still love the Ottawa, she has to be nicer to me from here on out....Right??? lol. Tight lines to all...

I'll keep an eye out for the pack of smokes. What brand?
I would not want to return you the wrong smokes ... if I find any. 8)

Ouch!!

First thing I do when I step foot in the boat after launching is empty my pockets, for that exact reason.
