Grocery Fishing completed.
The last thing on my grocery fishing list was pike fillets and i've been saving this outing for last. My good buddy Jammer and I hooked up this weekend and headed to the Bluff Bar at the tip of Long Point on lake erie where we've fished pike every spring for the past 13 years.
We made the 8 mile run out in Jammer's crestliner and got busy fishin. We had to work our way through pesky smallmouth all morning and I have to admit, i've never seen so many before. We continued to pick away at the pike and tossed the ones that were destined for a NS summer fish fry into the live well.
In the 13 years we've been fishing out there, we've boated 2 muskie...they are a pretty rare fish in that water. Both times it was jammer who caught them. I was fortunate to catch one this weekend and it was a real highlight for me. Jammer snapped some pics of it as i removed it from the hook and we sent it on it's way.
We packed it in shortly in the afternoon and headed in to get the knife work done and i had my limit of pike checked off the grocery list. No monsters, but perfect eating size.
