Michael,
I offered to hook my truck up to their trailer but it was already too late as it was after he was loaded. We are just going to try a new ramp next week.
The Rideau Brawl between two boats.
Re: The Rideau Brawl between two boats.
I have a Hyundai Santa Fe (FWD only) and I have no trouble puling the Ranger.
It is not too often that we run into these ramp problems. Not having a 4X4 vehicle can sometimes be a disadvantage.
That is why we prefer a nice ramp where the use of a truck or 4X4 type vehicle is not needed.
The ramp that we were on is very nice and will use it again in the future.
It just so happens that my front wheel was in a rut that had formed between the ramp and the gravel.
Also the trailer wheels were sitting just over the lip at the bottom of the ramp.
Factor in (it was dark, the ramp was wet and sandy, it's our first time there)...
all this made it a little more difficult for us to pull out.
However, we did manage to pull it out. Next time, we know what to expect and we'll be ready.
We had anticipated that we might have problems with the ramp and it's why we elected to leave earlier.
(Had we fished for an extra half hour, we surely would have culled one of the 2lb basses that we had)

Controversy at the scales!
Looked like a fun night boys! I'd be into some of that action if it becomes a regular thing during the week.

We are actually going to do it again on Wednesday September 3rd. We have 6 or 7 boats coming this week and you as well as anyone else that wants to are more than welcome to come.
Our goal is to meet there around 5:30 and wait until everyone gets there for blast off (or. 6:00pm whatever comes first).
Rules are simple.
3 bass limit (LMB and SMB)
Be back at the ramp for 8:00pm(Taylor Park beside the riverbend pub). This is to allow enough light to take a few pics.
Biggest three fish bag gets bragging rights.
It's more about having a good time than anything else but considering most of us have a competitive streak in us, a little bragging right never hurts.
If you want more details let me know!
Adam

Do I smell another LUND FUND donation coming up?
Re: The Rideau Brawl between two boats.
Not likely Brian... But I will be donating a few bits to the lads that show up to fish. I'll hit the tickle trunk before we leave.plowjock wrote:Do I smell another LUND FUND donation coming up?

The only thing I'll be trying to keep straight, is my face when you pull 1 pounders out of your livewell at weigh in! lolo0ollape0019 wrote:Looking forward to setting the record straight! See everyone tomorrow!

Lol,
I am not concerned with weighing in 1 pounders. They have all but disapeared for me lately.
I am concnerned about getting skunked with such a short window.

P.s. Short shorts and thin leather shoes will increase your movement speed on deck, agility is key!
