We have a Bass Boat and if we go out before Bass opener, we get accused of fishing for OSS Bass.
The boat don't run so good on ice and I'm to poor to go south.

The boat may see the water 2 or 3 times before bass opener but as for fishing. I might get out once for perch before bass opens and then nothing else matters.

I still have to figure out how to fish Walleye and as Frank stated, you get some weird looks fishing out of a bass boat without the season open.

It's funny as I started as a pickerel guy, and while I still love fishing them as they taste so good, I gotta say I love the fight of a nice bass. This year I will again fish for both, but come Bass season, I am gonna see if I can hone up my skills, as all lure purchase have been geared toward Bass.
I also don't understand something and maybe you folks can enlighten me. Crappie fishing. I as a kid, thought it was fine, but as an adult angler, I just don't get it. I do not mean any disrespect, to those that enjoy it, but man they annoy me stripping off my worms. I have seen some photos of some big crappies posted by people, but they are just not for me. What is the attraction, as I am really curious from a gaining knowledge perspective, not a smug attitude.

Crappies on ultralight tackle is the bomb. 2lb test line, small 750 to 1000 size spinning reel.
As for eating...well crappies taste good.

I am still looking for 2 piece 9ft plus 1 or 2 wt fly rod blank to make the ultimate crappie rod.

I have never really seen the allure of crappie fishing either.
No disrespect to those that like it but for me its not that appealing.

This time of year I like to go for carp and walleye.
Then gar
Then lakers and muskie.

Bass from time to time. I'll admit nothing beats ripping bucketmouthes outta the weeds. But I'd rather fish muskie during that time.
Trying for a 5lb bass or a 50"+ muskie....I'll take the musky.

And the Bass Pro Rick Cluhn signature series Carolina rig RCL704CR 7' heavy action
The Revo is ambassadeur PRM - HS
Pflueger Echelon 6.4:1.
And Daiwa Megaforce 100TSH 7.1:1

I would probably put the Revo on the Rick Clunn rod. You could use it for Carolina rigs and weighted Texas rigs easily and for the price, those rods seem to built pretty nice. I was surprised by the components if that rod.

I currently own one rod shorter than 7' for bass so I may be a little biased. It is my jerkbait rod. Without looking further into the vendetta, I would think it would be good for spinnerbaits, close quarter techniques and maybe jerkbaits if the tip was soft enough. If these are techniques you like, throw the Revo on there but I just think the other rod is better suited for that reel.

I was thinking the BP rod as well as it is a Heavy and will likely be my main Bass rod. I do a lot of Texas rig and Carolina in really heavy weeded bay, some times the weeds balls are several pounds when dragging bass out of this spot.
I am still undecided though.
I have a hot date next week with StarTzar. And will then make a decision.

This is nonsense. I truly believe guys that spend all year fishing for everything that swims become way better bass anglers and anglers as a whole. Being on the water nearly year round gets you more in tune to what is going on once your "season" starts.
